No more Stanby line for A&E?

This sounds dangerous. If the only Stanbys allowed are the first (Guessing here) 75 people that arrive during the day, with the rest given FPs, what is the RD stampede going to be like now for those who want to be in that initial group and not have to come back.

Also I get doing this for E&A because of their insane wait times, but TSMM and Soarin? If someone decides they want to ride TSMM 6 times in a day and are willing to wait an hour each time, shouldn't they be allowed to?

Has this information been published anywhere else?? Surely someone wouldn't post something simply to get hits on their website?? :rolleyes2:rolleyes2

If 80 per hour is the accurate # then the total per day is likely 1000 guests?.....with that said MK has maybe 20K? 30K guests? Sometimes 40 or 50K per day?

What I don't get is why Disney doesn't put them in EVERY park. I know they belong in fantasyland- or maybe epcot but seriously. How much $$$ is disney losing when a family is waiting for 3 hours for ONE meet/greet?

I'd guesstimate that capacity should probably be more like 5K per day to even come close to demand.

There are only so many friends of these characters, particularly Elsa. I think they are very hard to find.

You are not. It's not going to FP+ only. Just no standby. You'll get a return time ticket like at Jack Sparrow, Jedi Training or Frozen Sing A Long.

I think it's an improvement. Sure beats standing in 1 line for hours. Why not get a return and tour and come back later?

The one part of their story that is simply impossible is the 9 FP+ per hour. That is simply impossible. There may be 9 at each increment but that increment of time is not 60 min. At least not leading up to this test. Maybe while it's testing it's only 9 per hour but today, I do not believe they issued only 9 FP+ for each hour the park was open. Not buying that.

ETA - The way they wrote the following it sounds like it's always been 9 per hour.
Fast Passes will still work as usual. (9 FastPass+ reservations per hour – yes it really is that low!)

Me too, 'cause it sounds a lot like legacy FP. Except for the suck part where if you don't get one of these newfangled "passes" you ain't seeing them at all.

As for your opinions on the article in general, I agree. Dubious numbers indeed and therefore I am highly skeptical.

I got FP+ for them for our August trip. Had to book each person separately so I am watching this as this may help as our FP is right after dinner so if we are late seated or the characters run long 2 of us shall miss them which is fine but if we could all go together that would be better.

At least there won't be a long drawn out debate about the validity of the post since it "starts" tomorrow.

Hmmm...dubious statistics and incredible details on implementation. Sure glad we'll find out tomorrow.

I witnessed this lady's incorrect info and subsequent meltdown over the DAS at one point. I'd never hold anything she says as solid info, personally.

Didn't we have this discussion back when we heard they were making a few meet and greets (like at Epcot and DHS?) into FP only?

Every attraction needs a standby line. That way if things are moving particularly efficiently, they have bodies standing by to feed in. Otherwise there will be times they have things moving quickly, but nobody there to see them. Or they would have to issue so many passes that it backs up and the time reservation is not meaningful.

I'm going to have to say I'll believe this when I see it.

If the article comes to pass I wonder if there will still be 2 lines. The original FP+ line and then send the folks with the paper passes in the standy by line? That's how I imagine it would work

Personally, I have always thought that the Popular Meet and Greets should have been Fastpass Only from the beginning. Adults can possibly enduring waiting, however, I always feel sorry for the children.

Yes, that's how I read it. But they would still only hand out X number of tickets each day. What happens if all of those people are quick that day? They have to be careful they don't hand out more than they can handle, so it's also possible they might err too far on the side of caution and not issue enough.

Will you feel sorry for the ones turned away under this sort of arrangement once the passes are done for the day?

They'll need a new name.

FP light?

FP junior?

Slowpass?

FP filler?

Part of me hopes this is right. Just for the sheer spectator sport of it. But you could not pay me any amount of money to be the CM at the end of the line who has to stand there all day and tell people they cannot queue up to meet A/E and the passes are all gone for the day. That would take a lot of retraining traditional theme park expectations.

Hmmmm.........

No idea. Maybe they have a handle on how many can go through based on how many have gone in since they moved to MK?

Ohhhh...I like your new names.

I imagine that poor CM wouldn't want to tell the disgruntled guests to "let it go". Let's hope The Hub isn't suddenly transferred.:scared:

I'd honestly rather clean toilets than take on that job. It would probably be like some sort of CM purgatory.
