No more Stanby line for A&E?

Can you imagine the meltdowns at 1300 or 1400 hours when all the Stand-by slots are gone for the day.

And what happens when you have to decide at 1100 hours if you'll be in the park at 1900 you say what the heck, and take it. Then at 1700 you leave the park for dinner and bag it.

I don't know.. seems like old FP use to work because of the stand-by line. Maybe keeping the line at 30 minutes is enough buffer it won't empty over the period of the day.

They may want to rethink the location of that Sword in the Stone thing. ;)

:thumbsup2 and :lmao: I wonder if Disney could lease the rights to Gladiator? You know, like they did with Avatar.......

That's a very good point. And supports my contention that every attraction NEEDS a standby line. The only thing worse than not having enough capacity is to not have enough capacity and have some of it go unused after turning sad little guests away.

But just think of all the snow cones they could sell made by real children's "frozen" tears!:thumbsup2

No idea. Maybe they have a handle on how many can go through based on how many have gone in since they moved to MK?

They know exactly how many people go through each and every hour. They have counters for that. They aren't the old fashioned click click kind but all of the attractions know what their numbers are.

Liz

Problem with keeping the line at 30 mins (letting people back in when it gets to 15mins?)is i could easily see a mob of people waiting to get onto that 30min line... Another Line to get to stand in a Line and you are back at Square one...

But are they really any more reliable than those cool red card necklaces they handed out?

Yeah, we've carried enough of those red cards to have a pretty good idea how they figure it all out. I can only assume they can use the data gathered over the last few months to tell them how many to hand out per hour to accomplish a 30 min or so wait.

If they do make this switch then I think that park will be the easy part. Controlling the crowd getting them, not so much

it's my understanding those red cards are part of what they use to determine the number of people, along with the wait time said person had who carried it

People are going to flip if they cant get a FP+, and then can't get a return time card.

So, wonder when it will be $39/29 to meet them with a cupcake or somethin? :scared1:

Hey Disney, here's an idea. Add Anna & Elsa to Akershus, do a meet and greet at DHS, do one at Epcot. You know, multiple parks? Like every other princess? Sheesh. It just doesn't seem that complicated.

One would think those new fangled bands would be more accurate....but who knows with those things? They're kinda sketchy. :) I wonder how many non-English speaking visitors are handed a red card and think it's a souvenir? ;)

It does if you want to show an increase in attendance at MK and then pat yourselves on the back for that bang up job you did on New Fantasyland.

Yea they can't do that.

Because the minute word gets out that once the line hits some low water mark (20 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes) they open the line back up. people will loiter outside of the line with or without a line entry ticket. hoping it will be sooner.

So you in effect have a mob feeding a queue. at least the old way you had a queue.. a long queue.. a very long queue... but a queue..

And by changing the queue dynamic they are going to get a different thoughput on the queue. Now instead of Mom, Dad, Sally, and Billy getting into the queue because it's all Sally really wants to do, they get a ticket and get to go do something else, when the family's turn comes up instead of everyone returning it could just be Sally and mom..

Does that 90 slots per hour mean 90 people or 90 family groups?

I HATE this article.. enough information to sound real, enough details missing to make it sound false (or at least incorrect.)

LMAO

If this is true- RD just got even more insane. Here's hoping they figure this out by December. If my kid can't meet Elsa, it'll be long vacation.

I think the problem is finding friends of Anne and Elsa that are the right size, and have the right general face shape and complexion, that want to work as friends of a princess, that live with in commuting distance from WDW.

Think about it, if you want to be friends of Mickey or Minine it has a general height requirement, and some what of a build requirement. and they want to work as a friend of a mouse. But other than that the friends can be Boys or Girls, any complexion any face shape, any eye color..

I'm not as worried about the meet and greet as I am actual rides. Something like A&E you would only do once a trip. You only need to get 1 FP. What if I want to ride TSMM 5 times? Or Space Mountain?

Add to that Elsa is older than your typical friend of the other Princesses. I believe she has been hard to cast.

I believe Merida has been another that is difficult for them. The accent and coloring are more specialized.
