Cat Cora is opening a Mediterranean style restaurant that will replace Spoodles later this year. I hope she keeps the Pizza window open in some regard. We love grabbing a beer and a slice after returning from EPCOT at night and sitting out on the boardwalk. Does anyone have any further details as to what the changes will be?

This is news to me. However, I love the style of Cat Cora's food so will look forward to this.

I thought Spoodles was a popular restaurant? At least it's being replaced by something as nice. Where did you hear this?

I have always found Spoodles to be inconsistent in regards to food quality and presentation. I welcome this change. :)

I love Cat Cora - Sounds like fun but I wanted to try Spoodles. Where did you hear this?

It's on the newswire:

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Chef Cat Cora and Disney are joining together to open an exciting new family dining restaurant at Disney's BoardWalk Resort. Kouzzina by Cat Cora will feature a menu of Mediterranean-style cuisine that pays tribute to the chef's Greek roots.

The restaurant, to be owned and operated by Disney, is scheduled to open by fall 2009 in the space currently occupied by Spoodles.

I'm glad it will be a Disney resturant as opposed to outsourcing it like they have all over property.

I'm actually shocked its not outsourced, and I think outsourcing things like restaraunts are a good thing when it comes to Disney Standardization effects. The places that are not owned/operated by Disney tend to offer better meals.

We only got pizza at Spoodles, but the Boardwalk needs a pizza joint, right??

I thought I heard that the ESPN Zone was supposed to move from the Boardwalk to DTD? If that's true, they could still have a small pizza shop open - what's a Boardwalk w/o pizza???

I don't have a problem with outsourcing as long as it is not to a chain a la Rainforest Cafe. It seems unDisney to offer something that is available in numerous cities around the country.

btw..I saw the info listed on the news area that is at the top of the forums.

I think this is a great addition. I love watching Iron Chef America, and I think Cat Cora is a great chef. It's not that I didn't enjoy Spoodles, but I think this change is a positive one.

I think it will be a good change. I like Spoodles, but sometimes change is good. Cat Cora is a good chef, I'm sure her restaurant will be pretty good!

Ditto. There has been a big change in the last few years. The service and food quality has been inconsistant. I think this is great news!

I love Mediteranean food, it taps into so many different cusines! Something new to look forward to, I wonder what the time frame will be for the transition, (closing & reopening)?

It seems to me Spoodles had a Mediterranean flare, didn't it?
My favorite type of restaurant is probably Greek. When we lived in Spokane we ate Greek several times a week.
Where we are now the Greek food sucks.

Anyone heard firm dates on when Spoodles goes dark or when Cat's opens?

I hope they have a walk-up window with good food. We were so disappointed with our pizza last year from Spoodles. It was like eating cardboard.
