No more smoking or vaping in the parks

but I really think most people will sneak off someplace and smoke wherever they can and unfortunately that will probably be in the bathrooms. Are they going to have CM Smoking Monitors everywhere?
Some might, but I believe most won't. CMs regularly clean the bathrooms. I can't see a need to add monitors.
They'd have to strip-search, and I don't think anybody wants that.
I think Disney doesn't want that, either.

Sure must be a whole lot of poor people at Disney and Universal. Every time I go to either one, there are big groups in the DSAs. Like so many at times that we just move on to a different one.

Wait a sec, sometimes one of the two DSAs in MK is so crowded that you go all the way to the other one to get your fix? Aren't they kind of far apart in the park? So it's not a big deal walking across the park to a totally different area than where you're currently at when one DSA doesn't seem desirable to you, but walking out the gate and back in is a huge problem?

I actually had no problem discerning the hyperbole in the other poster's comments. Yours were the words I was responding to, I've bolded them for you above. If smokers want to get overly sensitive because non smokers don't feel like dealing with the spillover of someone else's nasty habits they don't get to declare it a prejudice. Taking it the step further as you did and attempting to shoehorn that idea into the previous hyperbole as an explanation doesn't seem remotely plausible IMO.

Hence the reason for the quotation marks.

I was responding to another poster talking about the health risks of smoking. I don’t even know for sure what the op meant.

You do see that I said Disney AND Universal?

And it wasn’t honestly that long ago that there were more than two. Now we either stay put or wait until we are by the other one. Not purposely walk all the way to the other side. But it has been so crowded up that we just waited.

And it’s STILL different than going to an area we have no need to go and going out the gate and back in.

To be fair, I would be all in on a perfume/scent ban. It was out of control on our last trip. I didn't think I had an adverse reaction to heavy scents but it seems I do. Maybe things have changed as I have aged, but this was the first time I felt bombarded by personal scents. I cannot for the life of me understand why people are wearing perfume to a theme park. Frankly, perfume is beyond unnecessary since BATHING is a thing now.

As for smokers, you can still go to Disney. Just have to adjust the when and where you smoke.

BUT, folks have to embrace the bathing, lol!!
I've been to WDW many steamy August days. The BO can get out of control, to the point that I've actually gagged!!!
I'd much rather inhale some gaudy cheap perfume than rancid BO!
Just sayin'

BO would offend my nose that's for sure but perfume would send my allergies into haywire. In terms of my body's reactions BO is far more of a temporary unpleasantness.

Don’t allow tobacco products into the park would be the easiest way.
You’re right, that would be the only way to completely stop it but that would require everybody being searched which would take forever and I don’t really see that happening. Where do the people who do smoke keep their cigarettes? In their cars if they drive but other than that they would have to have lockers outside the gates too.

Doesn’t take long to smoke a cigarette. I’ve visited the bathrooms many times and very rarely see CM’s cleaning them.

If enough people are sneaking them in bathrooms, there's going to be a huge increase in complaints from people who don't want to breathe others' smoke, and Disney really will keep them from even being brought into the park at all. One of the previous posters mentioned they were already doing that at some venue - not allowing people in if they were carrying cigarettes - probably just ramping up for when they have to do it at the parks. People will just have to keep them in their car or back at the resort.

:sad2: Calm down - all you need to do is install an adblocker. You can download one for free - just google it. And FWIW, you would not be seeing tooth ads (or toenail fungus ads :wave2: @TipsyTraveler ) if you hadn't searched for similar things on your own computer at some point.

I have an adblocker installed and I get links to ads on the bottom of this page, mostly about the topic of the thread, but some oddball ones as well.

On this thread most are Stop Smoking ads, but there are others too:

Dresses For Older Women (I may have searched for this in the past).
National Parks To Visit (I don't think so. Not my scene.)
Trailer Park Rentals (Not a chance.)
Who Owns This Cell Number (I couldn't care less.)

I've got the links too, although there are no pictures. Currently they are:

Quit Smoking Facts
Tips to Stop Smoking
Nicotine Withdrawal Symptoms
3 Signs of Lung Cancer
...and wait for it...

All I ever see on any thread seems to be the dresses for older women...and I'm still in my twenties! I've seriously never googled dresses either. I don't even wear them.

I've got it too though and I for sure haven't searched for dresses much less dresses for older women lol. I'm using Ad Blocker Plus but those ads at the bottom of the screen recently cropped up. Normally things are targeted ads but I'm thinking this thing may be more complicated than that.

I got all of the above at the bottom plus "how to clean a bathtub" (two years ago I searched for bathtub refinishing companies) and "Seattle graduate programs" (recently was there). Know this is off topic, but hate how the cyberuniverse keeps track of everything we do.

Interesting to hear we all have basically the same ones. :scratchin And I’m just noticing that the list only displays on my laptop, not my iPad even though I have adblocker plus on both of them.

Thank you for sharing this. I am hopeful that your story makes others understand how difficult “just quitting” can be. I once worked with a man who was in his 60’s. He had a heart attack in his 30’s and quit smoking. By the time I knew him he had not smoked in over 30 years. He told me that he still felt triggers almost every day. The triggers weren’t nearly as powerful as they once were, but after 30 years they were still there. I was shocked. It definitely gave me more empathy for my in-laws who were smokers.

And I mean this kindly, but maybe consider walking away from this thread if it’s triggering you? Nothing on the Dis is worth what it sounds like you are going through. I wish you all the best.

It IS very hard. So if I say anything it's not that I think smoker's gross. I watched my mother try for years and years, she started at a young age smoking her dad's Chesterfields. She really tried. She finally cut way down but couldn't all the way and it was too late for her, and I hate to be morbid, but she literally suffocated to death. Had emphysema and lung cancer. She was a very good kind person that was healthy in every other way, wasn't overweight, liked to exercise, swim, walk, ate healthy. But could not give them up and she really tried. If you ever watch someone die from lung cancer, that really might be a help to quit bc it was bad. Sorry to go there but it's something I feel strongly about sharing.

It'd be like prison contraband. Figure out a way to sneak in cigs and sell them inside for big bucks. I don't want to know how. We'll just leave that one alone.

Andy Reid’s (the head coach of the Kansas City chefs) son was going to prison he put drugs up his butt. Got away with it at first than he asked his cell mate if he wanted any. His cell mate turned him in.
