No more Ribeye at Le Cellier?! what!

Thank you. I rarely stay on property so I've never done any kind of dining plan but I've heard it's only worth it if you want to eat the most expensive things or if you get it free.

A third case is when you want to do a lot of character buffets with children. I suppose that's just a variation on wanting the expensive things.

And many people do a dining plan because they like the idea of having all meals prepaid, without regard to whether it saves money.

I have been to Le Cellier on every WDW visit in the lat 4 years and I have become increasingly disappointed with it each time.

My first trip in 2012, Le Cellier was at the top of my list of must do restaurants. Now I still see it as must do but I tend to do lunch and only order cheddar cheese soup and poutine (and a few extra servings of their awesome bread!).

And that is the shame about this place. A "STEAKHOUSE" that has only two choices of steak is better known for it's cheese soup, rather average poutine and excellent pretzel bread. If I were a steakhouse I would want to be known for my, well........ Steaks. LOL

Overall I agree with you - and have not done the DDP in years - I always consider it and then decide against it.
If you eat a TS meal every day and always have dessert you will probably come out ahead on the DDP - but it is always close. They way they overprice the meals at TS locations helps make it a better value - like Le Cellier an average quality steak at the price of a dry aged piece of meat - I eat at very few Disney TS location for this reason.
You also have to get dessert with your CS meal (or get a snack then and there) - next year it will be two snacks and no dessert with the CS meal - so that works out better IMO.
If it was easier to convert TS or CS meals to a fair number of snacks in advance I'd probably consider it more as I woudl not have to eat a TS every day and could use the snackls at F&W or for water etc...
So my point is if you stay on property you always have to consider it based on how your family eats

Like many Disney restaurants this was pretty good up until the second or third year of the DDP - then it dropped to chain quality.
Unfortunately there is so much hype around it (like many Disney restaurants) it seems that overall they can do no wrong - and the argument you get it well it's in a theme park - what do you expect. At $50 for a steak I expect something close to what I can get at a proper steak house for the same Money.
As long as it is booked out 180 days in advance and people accept it then it's never going to change.
And if you complain for a valid reason they will just ignore you or give you back your credits - that happened the last time I ate here because it was so bad - and the manager knew it was. Of course when you get those credits back there is not much you can do with them unless it is early in your stay

The last time I went to LeCellier the mother of the family at the table next to me absolutely refused to allow her kids to order anything but the highest price steak because it was the only way to justify the DDP. (It was impossible to miss this conversation as our table was just a few inches away. )


So they got the steak and whined. Proceeded to eat almost none of it. Such a waste.

Le Ceiller is the only place I will order a fillet. I find it that good!

As far as having to order the most expensive things to make the dining plan worth it, I don't find that at all. But I do like a good character meal, so that is where much of my cost is.

Agreed, although as a steakhouse, Yachtsman is far superior anyway.

We don't get poutine in UK so I love Le Celliers!!!

They should really offer this in a CS in Canada IMO - but it would have to be a lot better than what they serve in the restaurant from what I here .
I'd like to see curry or coleslaw chips in the UK pavilion as well...but I won't hold my breath

The Daily Poutine is now open in Disney Springs - I suspect this will be much better since that is all they do so you may want to check that out

Just wondering what the difference in whether you're on the plan or not has to do with the offerings at the restaurants would be?

We've noticed menu "enhancements" that are not including in the DDP. We've eaten at Jiko several times and lobster tail, mac and cheese, and maybe a few other items are on the enhancements list. We've also noticed the same thing happen at Japan hibachi (I can't remember the name right now). Maybe this is the way most or all TS restaurants on the DDP are headed.

Poutine is now a quick service at Disney Springs. No longer any need to pay for "signature" dining at a subpar place

Can anyone confirm that the ribeye is no longer on the menu? We've been over 10 times and the ribeye has always been on the menu and is DH fav steak of the trip! Its hard to believe its not on there anymore and there are only 2 steaks offered at a steakhouse?! (NY strip and filet)

CONFIRMED!!! I called up Disney and asked them about this, and they confirmed that they did get rid of the ribeye from the menu. As well as the Smoothies (a non-alcoholic beverage option) SO DISAPPOINTED!! We will be cancelling our ADR's for Le Cellier for our upcoming trip... 2 table service credits to eat here and you cant even get a ribeye anymore? We will be going to Yachtmans Steakhouse instead.

Many people believe that ddp is responsible for the changes in menus across wdw.

And it created the log jam for reservations needing 180 days out.

I think it comes down to the chef that moves into the restaurant and the resident chef leaves. The new chef wants to highlight his or her specialties so they totally revise the menu. And forget about the theme of the restaurant.

The filet recipe is delicious. I think it's mainly because of the truffle oil on top. It's their signature dish so I can sort of understand them pricing it that high.

But a NY strip steak that isn't prime and aged for $50? It is crazy, and you have to think that people who aren't in the know about dining credits must leave there feeling totally ripped-off and wondering why this restaurant has so many great reviews out there. Talk about a tourist trap.
