No more refillable mugs?

I received my confirmation email for our December trip and note that the free refillable mug is not included on the listing.

I see that it is listed on the QSDP listing on the DIS.

Does anyone know if it is or is not included?

It does not matter much to me but might to others.

Thank you so much, Slightly Goofy

Yes, it's included if you are on QSDP, whether it's listed on your confirmation or not. If that changes it will be in January, not December.

If it's any reassurance to the OP or anyone for that matter, my breakdown on my reservation has never listed the mug. :)

I noticed that, too. It's listed as included with DQSDP but not DDP. I'm guessing they can be purchased. Which might be better, for us, anyway, so we're not lugging around 5 mugs, lol.

It wouldn't be listed with the DDP details regardless because the refillable mug does not come with regular dining plan. At this point the mug comes with Deluxe and Quick Service plans only.

You can purchase the mug for about $14. We have bought them...and while we wouldn't carry them around if using Disney transportation, if you are driving to parks etc, it's actually quite handy. We'd stop by the food court on the way to the car in the a.m. to fill up on our caffeine and drink the beverage on the way to the park...then leave the mug in the car while we were in the park. Returning to the resort in the afternoon, hubby would drop us off at the door nearest the food court - we'd take the mugs in, wash them out & fill with soda or lemonade for our afternoon break. We'd take the mugs with us again when going to the parks at night, again leaving them in the car...that way we had them with us when we came back for the night. If we wanted a non-caffeinated "night cap", we'd do the same thing with hubby dropping us off at the food court with all the mugs -he'd go park the car & head for the room. We'd fill the mugs with Sprite or lemonade & meet him back at our rooms to mix our beverages.

Thanks for all the replies. I will wait and see, and then report, on whether or not it was included. It is not a big deal to us but might be to others.

I think I will start giving away our mugs when we check out. It would save someone some money and make them, and ourselves happy.

No, the free mug is not included with the basic plan, only the Quick Service and the Deluxe dining plans.

When I was looking at dining plans I noticed that little leapfrog. WHY did they do that? Why give it with the cheapest and most expensive plans but leave the middle one out? Wouldn't it make more since to give it to DDP and DxDDP but not QSDP?! It seems like a "perk" and I thought perks usually went UP as you paid more :confused3 It's their prerogative and there must be some rhyme and reason to it. I just can't find it LOL

Here's the rhyme & reason. The regular dining plan - what Disney calls "plus dining" is basically the original dining plan, and mugs were never included. It is by far the most popular dining plan - without the mugs - so why bother to add the mug when it outsells the others by a long shot. People are willing to pay the rates for the DDP with no "free" mug, so no reason at all to include it.

But, when they added the deluxe dinig plan...which costs nearly double the DDP...they added the mugs to make it more appealing, kind of an added incentive to make the leap to the much more expensive plan. (Though in truth, on the deluxe we are the LEAST likely to get much, if any, use out of the mugs because with 2 snacks & 3 meals a day, we rarely have "room" for extra beverages, lol. )

And same with the QSDP...only on that one, they have to make it more appealing because it's only $10 less than the DDP - still 2 meals a day, but no expensive table service option...so again, to make it more appealing and more sellable, they throw in the refillable mug.

Clear as mud, right:thumbsup2

You know, it's all about the numbers. Disney most likely make more money off the Deluxe and Quick service plans. I mean you're paying the ridiculous amount of $72.00 per adult, per day for the deluxe plan. Unless you are eating A LOT of 2 credit meals, you can't hardly break even on that deal. Even with the quick service plan, you are paying $32.00 per day, per adult for fast food, no expensive character meals, so they are making more money there. I think the "free" mug makes those plans look even more enticing and Disney, thereby makes more money. We always do the basic plan, and if you would eat one sit-down meal per day at Disney, even if you are not on the plan, then that's the way to go. I ran the numbers all around and it saves us about $200.00 vs. out-of-pocket. So I feel Disney's breaking even on the basic plan, therefore they have no incentive to offer the free mug.

Just my random observations, so take them for what they are worth :-)

That's odd, I just went to my email to check and mine does. I'm on the DxDDP, which includes the mug, just like the counter service plan. I copied this from my email:

Personally we love the DxDDP.:rotfl: We usually eat two TS meals/day at Disney, love appetizers, prefer all the Signature restaurants, do not care for CS, use the mugs at least every morning and night, and use our snacks on our last day to take home. Not particularly caring for most of the CS restaurants there is no way we'd ever use the counter service plan and the basic DDP doesn't fit the way we eat, although we have it used multiple times, (especially if it's free) and then just pay OOP for more TS and usually have CS left over.

The fact that the mug is not listed on my confirmation is what has me puzzled. It has all the other little perks included though. Last year the mug was listed though. :confused3

My husband would love the deluxe dining plan and there is nothing he would enjoy more than to spend almost every single moment in a restaurant chowing down, unfortunately his 'trying to get skinny' wife will not cooperate. :lmao:

I just him eat all of his QS food and half of mine and that works for the both of us, sort of.

Maybe they stopped listing the mugs being included with the Quick Service and Deluxe Dining Plans incase they ever stop offereing them with those plans.

We just did 2 weeks on DxDDP, and I calculated that we saved about 41% on meals during our stay. We usually eat 3 TS meals a day, with or w/o a dining plan, so we more than broke even on that one.

Our desk agent told us lots of people forget to redeem their mugs. If it is in your plan, the credit is on your kttw card, and they will take it off when you pick up your mugs at the food court.

Could be. Here is another possibility. Did everyone book direct through WDTC? I did, but I am in the UK so booked with Disney UK. Disney in the US views the UK branch as a Travel Agent. :confused3 Just wondered if the breakdown details vary depending on who you booked your package through.

All is good. If folks are not getting a refillable mug included with their QSDP we shall soon hear screams of pain. :goodvibes

Yes, last year we just had to hand over our Key card and the mugs were paid for. I love how easy they make it for us to spend our money. :rotfl2:

Except as I said, mine is listed for my Dec ressie. Don't know why Slightly Goofy's isn't.:confused3 I orignally booked mine last Dec with the counter service plan under the Bounceback Deal that was being offered back then. I then called the main number (407-939-6244) maybe two months ago and switched to the DxDDP. The email they sent me does show the refillable mug.
