No More McDonalds at DL

I just read on AOL news that Disneyland is parting ways with McDonalds effective Sept. 2nd. I wonder if they will do the same at DW.

the only partnership disney broke with mcdonald's in the past is for happy meal toys and that was just to no longer provide exclusivity to mcdonald's, not that they could never have disney toys again (although subway is doing a whole bunch of disney stuff as of late).

The OC Register ran an article last week about McDonald's leaving Disneyland, and it included this quote from a McDonald's spokeswoman:

Yes, McDonald’s is leaving because of the remodel, said spokeswoman Danya Proud. But: “It is also important to note that we continue to have a relationship with Disney — that includes providing foodservice at Walt Disney World.”

So for now it doesn't look like McDonald's is leaving WDW anytime soon.

McDonalds is one of only two restaurants in my town with a drive through (the other being Dunkin' Donuts). So I eat more Mickey Dees than I care to think about! I definitely don't plan to eat there when I'm at Disney...too many choices that aren't conveniently close to home!

McDonald's is still very much alive and well at Disney World. There is one stand at every park. Plus the full restaurants at Downtown Disney and by the All Stars.

I'm not a fan of McDonald's in the parks and I refuse to eat at them myself at Disney World. But, I'll take them in the parks having fries and nuggets available for kids who need familiar food for lunch or dinner over having those same kids having a meltdown because they are hungry and there's nothing they want to eat. A happy kid eating McDonald's fries is much better than a crying, whining, hungry one. McDonald's is just one food choice. If you don't want to eat there, you don't have to.

I have heard that McDonalds at DTD will be leaving. I don't know how soon that will happen, but it is a rumor that is circulating in this area. I've heard it from multiple sources, so there must be something to it.

I wouldn't mind saying good-bye to McD's in the parks. They're part of my every day landscape, and it doesn't really make me happy to see them while on vacation. To me, it's like seeing a muffler shop in the middle of MK, ya know?

I LOVE the Mickey D's at Downtown, it would be a shame of it went. However, they can get rid of the one in AK and the French Fry stand at MK, total waste.

I agree totally. The LAST place I want to take my kids is McDonalds if I am at WDW on vacation. Go away McDonalds, go away!

I, too, am glad they will be gone.

I never quite understood the whole MCD's craze. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind hitting on every once in awhile, but it doesn't seem like they fit in with the magic.

Guess I am the contrarian today Its' not that I absolutely love McDonalds or anything but a handfull of french fries and a cool sprite are a quick easy lunch snack, but cheap (relatively), and besides that have become a family tradition and something my wife, kids, and I joke about when we aren't in the World (ya, and remember when dad made us eat fries for lunch every day!?....dad, there is the fry stand, can we eat lunch now?)...and look forward to. I think the fact that the theming isnt overly exagerated (fries stand in the parks) to make it look out of place helps as well. It's a part of our WDW experience, and I hope it doesnt change.

i NEVER KNEW there was a McDonalds at the parks.. i had heard of there being one someplace else (DTD?) though. i hope they do get rid of them. not that i'm against McDonalds (i will admit, i do love their fries), but i just don't see why they need them in the parks. there's other food that's a lot better and original to WDW!

Nope you're not the only one, I'm with you. I will admit that when McDonald's came into the parks I thought it was pretty 'tacky'. But I've come to realize that those fries stands are a God send when my blood sugar is running low (DH really thinks so) and soooo much better than the Disney fries. Service is much faster than the Disney CS too. Since I don't eat 'bad' food like that at home but go totally off my diet on vacation it's the only time I get to eat them. I never eat the burgers though so they could totally take those out as far as I'm concerned. just keep the fries.
