No more full size cribs?

Just a warning, the mattress delivered with our full size crib from ABBF was too short and we had to stuff the gap (fully the width of a soda can) with a bath towel. My DS is 15 months, so I let it slide, but it would have been a real issue with an infant.

They didn't offer to bring back the right size for you?

We didn't even call. The crib wasn't delivered until about dinnertime so we just assembled it and lived with it.

I thought all crib mattresses were the same size anyway, so I am not quite sure why there was a discrepancy.

OP - if you need to have a full-sized crib, I highly recommend renting from A Baby's Best Friend. We used them in Nov and the crib was truly a full-sized crib. The cribs at Disney are portable metal cribs which are slightly larger than a pack 'n play, but smaller than the full-sized crib you would have at home. We used the metal Disney crib at SSR when DD was 8.5 months old. We took the extra flat sheet for the pullout sofa and wrapped it through the bars to create a bumper. It worked just fine for her then, but at 21 months old, she was far too big for that size crib so we decided to rent one from ABBF.

This is not the case with the cribs at Wilderness Lodge.

We were there in April and requested a crib for our youngest, knowing that the Pack 'n Play would be too small but not quite ready to let him share a bed with his older brother. I knew it was a request, and we could have put him in the bed if we had not gotten one.

The crib that was delivered was the exact same size as ours at home. It was different then the one shown from BLT. It was a shiney silver metal, and the mattress was height adjustable, just like at home. It was on wheels and arrived fully assembled and with 2 sets of sheets and a crib blanket. It was wonderful!!

For anyone wondering, it fit perfectly in the closet in the second bedroom of a dedicated 2BR. He had his own little room and wasn't disturbed by his big brother and sister at all!!

Sorry I didn't think to take pictures.

It is just so strange to me that there is not more consistancy between resorts and policies!!

A friend of mine got a full size crib at OKW last week, and after her experience, you may rethink using the OKW cribs (if they still have them in December). On the second or third night, her grandson woke up crying-his leg had gotten stuck between the slats! After prying his sore leg out, they called and had the crib removed. After that, they used the pack and play, and fortunately he was fine with it.

I don't think this incident has anything to do with the particular cribs at OKW. A child can get their leg caught in any crib. My daughter frequently did it in our crib at home. She could never figure out how to turn her foot to get out of the slats.

I agree with many PP....if you NEED a guarantee of a full size crib rent one from abbf.com. That being said while I was overal happy with my experience with the company I also got a mattress that was too small for the crib and needed to stuff with towels. I also did not call as I had a 13 mo in the crib. If it was an infant I never would have used the crib with the too small mattress.

If you need to be sure you get one, rent it. Nothing with Disney is ever a definite, even if they have them it will be first come, first serve.

I would not want to risk it.

The CPSC is working hard to ban all drop-side cribs from the market by the end of the year. They also like to remove them from all hotel/motels and I'm sure they'll try to get the rental companies to get rid of theirs too. I suspect pack-n-plays will soon be all that is available... now would be a great time to get into the business of producing non-drop-side cribs!

I hope they don't succeed. Not only am I short (5'0") but I also have had part of my spine fused. I cannot bend over the rail of a non-drop side crib so I wouldn't be able to put my DD in or take her out of a crib that didn't have a drop side. We tried dozens of cribs in the stores before our DD was born and there was not one non-drop side crib that I could safely use.

We just got back from a week at OKW. I requested a crib through MS but when we got to the resort they said no full size cribs anymore just pack and play. It worked out OK for us for now.. but full size crib would be easier..

We just did a BLT add on too...

Thanks
Gloria

I totally recommend ABBF if you truly need a crib. We rented there 2 weeks ago when we stayed at BCV. We saw a white metal crib in the hallway as we were leaving so they might be still available, but I wouldn't risk it, I'd rent it. It wasn't that expensive and worth it for a good night's sleep.
