No more DVC Bags

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this was already on the boards or not. I'm in a middle of a small add-on for HHI and when I received my paperwork I noticed that I didn't receive one of those famous DVC bags. When I called to find out MS told me that from now on dvc bags will only be given as a gift for first initial contracts and not given anymore for add-ons.

Has anyone else received this same message????

I know times are tough and the bag isn't that big of a deal but just on principal it was nice to feel appreciated when you have decided to invest more money into dvc.

We did not receive a bag with our recent add-on. I was not expecting to receive one as this was our first add-on and I did not know they sent them for anything but the initial purchase.

Same as above, we did not receive one on a recent add-on....were not aware they used to give them for people adding on.

Just did a 100 pt add-on at BLT while at WDW on 11/26. This was our 4th add-on and we've received a tote with every other one. None this time - was told it's part of the budget tightening. BUT...while our guide was getting some paperwork, she opened a door to a small room with stacks of "Dream Books". As soon as I saw them, I asked if I could have one since we didn't get the tote -- she was more than happy to give us one (and truthfully the book is much nicer than another tote bag).

Did you purchase direct through Disney? If so, you should receive the tote bag. If you purchase your initial contract resale, then you will not receive it. Disney gives the bag with initial purchase of the points, so whoever buys from them first receives it. If they turn around and sell their contract, then those buying through resale will not receive since it was already given out for those points.

Just give them a call if you bought from Disney but did not receive it. I added on through Disney before and never received an additional tote bag. Just with my initial purchase...

I guess we are among the lucky. We added on this summer and got a tote. We closed in July.

I added on in the begining of November and I got a tote bag. I really was not expecting one, and I was kind of surprised when I got the Fedex box.

We added on three times between 99 and 02 and never got another add-on gift other than the lithograph. We did get free salt water taffy and lemonade for our VWL add-on. Are they still giving lithographs of the resort as gifts?

Master BCV contract - got a bag and a litho
BCV add-on - got another litho - no bag or anything else
AKV add-on - got a bag

AKV was when they first started selling, but after the Founding group first formed.

BCV was when it was first selling for the master contract and the following year with the add-on.

I'll be honest...I need another bag like I need a hole in the head. It's nice, but for me, I just don't need it.

If not giving out a bag for add-ons lowers my dues, I'm all for it.

We got a great canvas tote bag when we added on about a year and a half ago. I like it much better than the backpack we got with our initial purchase.

My initial purchase was a resale so no tote bag..when I do my add on, which will be my first purchase through Disney, do I then get the tote bag? Probably not
I did get a nifty ABD bag..but my friend who booked the same trip through AAA got the bag and a cool rustic looking frame..I seem to be a miss out kinda person....

We did our add-on in May and did receive another tote. I love those bags. They really come in handy as we always drive to WDW. I gave it to our DD and promised the next one to DDIL. She's not going to be happy. I do believe they should give some sort of gift for investing again. Someone told me once the totes cost about $40 if you tried to purchase one? Maybe a coffee mug would be cheaper?
