Disney has decided to end this practice of having an athlete or MVP during a "big" game such as the upcoming SuperBowl or World Series, saying at the end of the game, "And what are you going to do next - I am going to Disney World"

They related that they are concentrating all their advertisement on the upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration. So, no more athletes or parades right after such events. What a big letdown. :rotfl2: :confused3

The very first time it was said it wasn't a promotation item. Phil Simms (NY Giants I think) was really going to WDW after the Super Bowl with his family. So, they just kind of took it from there. I agree it is a big let down, but as they would say onto bigger and better things.

Phil Simms was the first to say, but only after Eisner's wife came up with the concept during a dinner and it was proposed.

Just, that it was a lot of fun and a lot of people did make it to these events to watch the celebrities.

Bummer. I was looking forward to Tom Brady saying it next Sunday :) --
Of course, he could recite the phone book, as long as it's televised...

could this be related to all the scandals with athletes like the steroid use and such? :confused3

Well, I thought maybe somebody for the Eagles would say it! :teeth:

I don't know but it could be just a business decision. They probably are not getting back what it cost them to make the commercial (and pay the athlete).
