No more All Hands on Deck :(

How hard is it to walk to Cabanas, load up a plate with cheese and crackers and walk back to the room and put the plate in the fridge? It's a win-win. You'll save money by not having to tip and burn a few extra calories.

And that is what I'll do for this next cruise. I still feel there have been far too many changes to "align with industry standards" while charging a premium price. And for some of us, walking up to Cabanas IS hard. Not everyone is able bodied.

I've only done one DCL. We had a great time and are booked for our second. After that we'll move on to try new things - i.e. non cruise, new destinations - anyway. For us the prices is only worth it during a short period of our lives when we need help with our kids on vacation - via childcare and entertainment.

However we are huge Disney fans so I could maybe see my DH and I doing a DCL cruise we got a good deal on once we are retired someday. Mainly for nostalgia's sake. I could just as easily see us taking a cruise on another line.

All of these recent changes definitely indicate to me that they are really targeting people like me who will cruise DCL one to three times in their lifetimes. I definitely don't see returning cruisers to be a huge priority in DCL's business plan.

I wouldnt be surprised if "free" room service ends someday soon. Isnt there an upcharge on other cruise lines? If Disney wants to start copying other lines they can should start copying rates too. I justified paying higher rates because of service and perks but those seem to be fading.

This is a huge disappointment for my family. We ordered one almost everyday as an afternoon snack.

If you're able to plan it its easy, but Cabannas isn't open the whole day and if you're off the ship during the lunch buffet when else can you get it? I liked the cheese plate in the evening before late dining when Cabanas isn't a buffet.

What is All Hands On Deck?
Been on five Disney cruises and have never looked at the room service menu. But, this last cruise we forgot our cork screw (we had two bottles of wine in our carry on) and my wife called room service to see if they could send a cork screw. Well, apparently we got The All Hands on Deck as the picture here matches what showed up with our cork screw along with two wine glasses! No charge either.

they have the cheeses out at breakfast and again, don't forget that cove café has a selection of meats, cheeses and olives in the evenings. not sure exactly when they come out but I would bet it would be about six or so.

You're assuming Cabanas is open when you get the hankerin' for some cheese. What if you didn't think ahead? Also, we've ordered it twice before on days when we get back from being in port all day. It's late afternoon, Cabanas isn't open and we're all showering and putting ourselves back together. I feel okay opening my stateroom door with my hair dripping wet in my bathrobe. Heading to Cabanas? Not so much. I don't see what the big deal is for DCL to bring me a freakin' plate of cheese!

This is a total bummer for me. We are vegetarian, and the non-charge options on the room service menu are very slim for non-meat eaters. Stinks.

As if DCL's vegetarian options weren't bad enough before this (the dining rooms are the pits).

Agree my wife is vegetarian and the dining rooms vegetarian meals are very very bad.

I would love to see a copy of the "new" room service menu. If anyone has a pic, please share. TIA

all hands on deck and the steak sandwich is our favorite in room snacks.

The cookies are rock hard. They can take those away.

Wow, I hope this isn't true. We are sailing on the Magic next week. I am gluten free and this was the one thing on the room service menu (minus the crackers) that I could order.

Wow, I really disagree. I've had some amazing vegetarian meals. I've never gone hungry. Palo was more challenging and not overly impressive, but in terms of the MDRs, I've always been very very happy.

They now have a Greek Salad, Baked Mac and Cheese and a grilled cheddar cheese sandwich.

This is something I read about and wanted to try on first cruise.

I think it's been talked about so much that everyone is now trying this. We ordered a bowl of soup for my daughter at 5pm from room service since we had Palo reservations and wanted to make sure she had something to eat in case she didn't like dinner in the Club. It took over an hour to get our bowl of soup. Maybe they are having to plate up and deliver hundreds of these All Hands on Deck orders because they're so talked about that it's negatively impacting their ability to offer decent room service. If cheeses and crackers are available from other locations on the ship (the cafes as previous posters mentioned?) it makes sense to me they would discontinue offering it through room service and make people go get it themselves rather than bog down the entire room service program.

They also took away the fruit bowl and looks like you have to pay for fruit...those items that are now for a fee on the menu were all the amenities offered in the pre-cruise gift orders.
Perhaps the gifts were not selling b/c of the free fruit bowl and AHOD cheese platter hmmmm.....
