No more All Hands on Deck :(

i'm going to be the odd man out here but the last few times i ordered it it was looking pretty sad. some of the cheeses on the plate were processed and not of good quality. not sure when you took your picture weedy but again the last few times we never had the baby bellas show up. on our last b2b we ordered it once in hopes it would be better but after that one time we didn't bother again.
what i did do was get a plate of cheeses and meats from the buffet and have them in my fridge at the ready. that is so much better imo and its free. also, cove cafe in the evening has meats, cheeses, and olives for the taking. no one needs to pay that outrageous price when its al over the ship.
happy wine and cheese! ;)

It seems to fit with the alcohol policy. I am assuming they want to take away any incentive to drink your own alcohol in your room.

My family almost always ordered two plates of this each night and two wine glasses. We had late dinner, so this helped hold us over while we were getting ready for dinner. We would have a couple glasses of wine each (from a box) and some cheese to snack on while we got ready. The change in alcohol policy was enough for us to try Royal Caribbean in 9 weeks. All of the other changes (assuming we enjoy Royal with their drink package) will be enough to keep us from coming back.

That's terrible if they are pushing a $38. plate now. I bet those working in room service feel awful whenever someone tries to order the former plate.

Are there ever to go boxes available at the buffet? Just thinking it would be easy to throw something like that together and put in the cooler in the room, but I've never seen any to go boxes of any type.

I wonder what else they have changed. Their room service menu was pretty limited to start with. I was never a huge fan of the all hands on deck platter, but my DH enjoyed it occasionally with a glass of wine. I just checked out that $38 cheese platter on their website. :rotfl:No way! Now I guess we have a good excuse to climb a few flights of stairs and get our own from the buffet - burn some calories to boot !

Still, it's annoying. I'd love to see a picture of the new menu. Hopefully someone will post one.

You can just throw it on a plate, take it back to your room and then put it in the fridge/cooler.

I sure hope this isn't the case as it's always something I order on every cruise. I will update and verify whether or not this applies on my upcoming trip January 22 on the Dream

Trying to be an optimist here; they may not have had it available for that particular sailing, the RS menu says that items may not always be available..... Maybe the ran out of Babybels or something. At least that's what I hope happened, because with late seating that was a staple for us.

Except that the OP posted that the room service menu has been updated to show the $38 cheese plate.

I just texted my DH. We are both going to be disappointed. I'll have to hide cheese in my purse and save it for the evening.

Well I am still hopeful it is a fluke, time will tell..

It must be the same one advertised on the pre-cruise Guest Amenities Gifts, it is $38.00 and is a lot larger but no Babybels :( see photo here: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/gifts-and-amenities

If it is true I can finally prove to my DH there is a reason I bring a clean empty Ziploc small Storage Container with me while traveling.

Just boarded the Dream and called to order this cheese platter from room service. Nope, no longer available! But for $38 you can have it. No thanks. And $44 for a case of bottled water. I think not. So frustrating.

How hard is it to throw a few pieces of cheese and crackers on a plate? Very disappointed in the direction that DCL is taking. I'm sure that new cruisers don't know what they are missing but all of the reasons that I tolerate DCL pricing is for the extras. Now that those extras are disappearing and nothing of value is replacing them, I'm so disappointed in my (previously) favorite cruise line.
