No more $5 MagicBands? (Update: They Are Back)

Kind of makes it worth paying $700 a night :joker:

They are also available for DVC members staying on points, so not just $700 per night stays. You do have a great point that Disney is nickel and diming some of their best customers with fees for MagicBands, parking, and soon MagicalExpress.

Lol! Looks like no matter which MB you choose with a Disney resort stay, they're all $10 off retail price. So, yeah, there you have it. ::yes::
Our $5 solid colors MBs arrived yesterday for our March trip.

Do the really old magic bands still work? I have a bunch from when they first came out and I have no desire to waste money on any more of them. I must have 20 already.

Short range “tap” functions such as theme park admission, paying for things, and using it to enter your room will always work, or so they say.

Long range functions such as on ride photographs will eventually stop working when the battery in the band runs out. Battery life will depend on use, but most say a few years.

Thanks!

I go into my MDE account to mooch at the MagicBands and when I go into edit order it takes me into a faq page? Anyone else?

Mine seems to working as normal, FWIW.

If you aren’t already, make sure to use the private browsing version of whatever browser you use (eg, Chrome Incognito). That’s about the only way I can get Disney’s website to work, especially for functions where you are booking/buying something, like MagicBands, booking rooms, etc.

Hope that helps.

Hi, question on magic bands. I have an upcoming trip in a few days and we didn't order magic bands because we already have our old ones. The old ones are still showing active on our magic band profile but on our upcoming resort stay (split stay SSR and POP) it says there are no magic bands associated with our stay.. Are we going to need to go to the front desk with our old magic bands to have them update?

MagicBands aren't associated with or programmed for a specific stay/resort reservation - a MagicBand just points to your MDE account... your MDE account is what has all the specific details it needs to know.... room reservations, park tickets, etc.

Occasionally you may get there and your MB won't work to open your room. That's more of a local door access control system thing and not related to ordering bands for a specific trip. This seems to happen with more frequency with those who have a large number of trips/bands (my MB door access success rate keeps getting worse every year). But a quick visit to the front desk can usually straighten things out.

Hope that helps!
