Just spoke to our TA and she says they have not received our ME tags, that she called Disney and they say no they have not sent them out....
Darn I was hoping after a month of this they would have things sorted out by now.
WE leave next friday so I guess there is still a chance, but I am not holding my breath...

We are 3 couples getting in to MCO at 9:20pm, should we just pull our own bags, then check in for the bus? Are they going to be irritated that we will have luggage on the bus? It would make it simpler to have the bags since due to our late arival we would not get the bags till the next morning. We would not have to pack an overnight carryon.
Anyone with experience with getting their own bags let me know how it worked for you..

Thanks
Bev

I can't answer your question, but even if you can somehow take the luggage yourself my advice is to pack overnight and next day stuff in a carry-on anyway! Why? What if the AIRLINE loses or delays your luggage??? Happens all the time. It's happened to me twice in the past 15 years, BOTH times on non-stop flights. No matter where I go, under any circumstances, I always have about 24 hours worth of supplies in my carry-on, for just such an emergency.

By doing what I normally do anyway, I was able to have a stress-free start to our vacation. When my luggage magically arrived in my room at CBR, I was already at the pool with my kids. One shirt, one pair of shorts, 1 piece of underwear, one pair of socks, one set of PJs for each person, toiletries and any medications, too. Doesn't take up a whole lot of room. I can easily fit that all in one normal carry-on bag. It's cheaper than travel insurance and a lot easier to use if you need it!

CleveRocks - excellent advice!!!

I always carry on what I can't live without for the first day or so, and whatever would be a terrible pain to replace (like a bathing suit, or a cell phone charger, and a camera.)

It's amazing, but even with early check-in and non-stop flights, luggage goes astray.

I would also advise double checking your checked luggage receipt - make sure it has YOUR destination code (yep, DH sent a bag to the wrong airport once) and YOUR name on it. After DH's incident, I am always sure to check the code. Get this - My luggage was on its way to the right place, but it had someone else's name and flight number. I just looked at the big black letters "MCO" (Unbelievable! That was really dumb on my part.) I went to report my missing bag, and I read the number off the receipt to the nice agent, and she says, "alright Mrs. X----, where are you staying?") and I said, "I'm Mrs. Z----, not Mrs. X-----" "well, it says here, Mrs. X---" UH-OH, and THAT is when we figured out the problem. Good news is that my bag was due in about an hour after me - who knows what happened to Mrs. X's bag??? Hope she was smarter than me at the departure point. (How did this happen, you ask, aside from me not checking the receipt? It was a busy morning, understaffed check-in desk, and I used the self-check kiosk. The agent who should have tagged my bag left the area. Another agent just said, "Orlando" and I said, "yes." Who knew?)

Not direct answers but...

>>> will they be irritated that you have baggage

Most guests will have a carry-on item hand carried out of the plane as they make their way to the ME welcoming area (lowest level A side).

>>> tags not sent out yet

If you don't have ME tags you may get your own bags from the carousel. But if your plane arrival is after 10 PM you should report to the ME area promptly.

You may or may not be required to "recheck"your bags with ME when you get to the ME welcoming area Late at night or if hardly any guests are lined up you probably won't have trouble having your bags on the bus.

If you go to the ME welcoming area first you might not be given the chance to go back and get yhour bags, you might have to show the ME CM's your luggage claim checks and the CM's get the bags.

thanks for all your suggestions. I looked at the map of the MCO airport in my passporter and deceided that I have no desire to drag my luggage from one end of the airport to the other late at night.
Even though I doubt disney will come through with our tags we will trust them to find our luggage and deliver it to us....we always put yellow tape on our bag handles and bright lime green or hot pink bag straps so they are usually pretty easy to identify...

Carry on will be a must this trip with at least overnight and next day clothes!
