I don't let them see my receipt when leaving the store, I would not bother to show them proof of vaccination to enter. My husband went to a Walmart yesterday, with a sign stating that the vaccinated could go maskless, now permitted in our state. He was asked by the greeter to show proof of vaccination.
Some places masks are not REQUIRED. But after what we've been through, I think you are going to see some folks continue to wear them long after. Healthcare professionals here in California are outraged at the CDC's move. Our mask requirement is in place until at least June 12.Apparently our local Walmart didn't get the memo. We just returned and EVERYONE, from the time we pulled into the parking lot, had a mask on. Outside, inside, employees, shoppers. I was shopping for new eyeglass frames, and the first thing the employee did was hand me a container and tell me to put every pair I handled into the box so that they could sanitize them before returning them to the display. I asked him if it was OK to remove my mask when I looked in the mirror with potential frames on. He said I could LOWER my mask just at that time. And we live in a state where the governor lifted the mask mandate several weeks ago. So I COULD have made an issue of it, but it just wasn't worth it to me. Anyone else live where they're not following the CDC guidelines concerning masks? I was even ready with my vaccination card.
Everything will override CDC. They are making guidelines that's it. Why have people forgotten that places didn't always follow the CDC exactly as they wrote (which is not a bad thing, nor good thing, just the truth)? Suddenly now people are like "nope these places MUST follow CDC otherwise...."If this bothers you so much don't shop there. If your state still has a mask mandate that will override CDC.
Besides mandates and private corporation requirements which shouldn't be argued with, I think there are trust issues on vaccination as well as general confusion about masks, maybe?
I went to the grocery store yesterday, the first place I've visited (besides work) since my state lifted the mask mandate over the weekend.
In the parking lot, I saw mostly maskless people coming out of the store. I walked up to the store with mask in hand to read signage on the door. The signs about masks were removed.
I saw a woman coming up to return her cart and she was wearing a mask so I asked her what the mask situation was in store, she said "some customers are wearing, some aren't, some workers are, some aren't, you don't have to wear one if you are vaccinated and I've only had one shot so far so that's why I'm wearing mine."
I went in and shopped without a mask and felt very strange because probably 85-90% of everyone I saw was masked.
At checkout, the cashier was masked. Before I placed my items on the belt I asked if he would feel more comfortable if I put my mask on. He said no you are fine, it's not necessary. I said, ok, I'm vaccinated fyi, just trying to do the right thing.
So yeah, it made me feel super weird. Like when you know you aren't doing something wrong but you just feel odd about it. Just wanted to share my experience.
In our local area walmart all pharmacy employees will still be wearing masks vaccinated or not for now. Just had the meeting this morninFYI: The Pharmacy and Vision Centers inside of Walmart operate under different polices from the store itself. The Eye Doctor and Pharmacist make the calls. They even overrule Walmart's store managers.
Why COULD you have a made an issue of it? Based on what? Their company, their policy. They can require masks even if government doesn't.
