At Disney now but was so sad when we landed at airport and the magical bus didnt show. They sent a Mears 6 passenger van.

Made the best of it... But was looking forward to that first initial disney magic and video, you know?

Has this happened to you?

No one seemed to know why the bus didnt come.

It was at like 840pm if that matters.

If it makes you feel any better, the video is sometimes broken or missing. You're at WDW now. Be happy!:cheer2:

It has not happened to me, but I would be thrilled! A van probably means you'd get to your hotel alot faster, with fewer stops. Have fun!

Nope, would't bother me a bit. I'm of the mindset that if you let the little things bother you, the vacation will slowly but surely spiral into a negative space. Not worth it! Enjoy!

I've heard of that happening before. But no, it wouldn't bother me. The destination is what's important. Not how you get there.

While I can understand the other posters saying to not get upset, the ME is actually the moment when I feel like I have arrived. Therefore I understand your frustration. Hopefully that ends up being the only "negative" of your trip. Have fun and take care of the World for us! 26 days and counting!

i know what you're saying and i don't know how i'd feel. on the one hand i'd be bummed not getting on the ME and starting my disney trip right from the airport, but like others have said, i'd probably be happy to get to the hotel quicker and in my own personal vehicle! it's a bummer with an upside i guess!

~No, not at all! During that time in the evening, I think I would prefer it! Have a great vacation! :goodvibes

We got a Mears bus last time. I was a bit disappointed for a couple minutes, then I saw DD and DS's faces and reminded myself that they don't care what bus we're on, we're in Disney World!

It might cross my mind as something that should irk me but as long as it gets me to my resort, I really don't care, lol!

Just to be clear for those who don't know...

Mears is the company that actually owns and operates Disney's Magical Express (DME) for Disney.
(They are under contract with Disney, but Mears actually runs DME.)

Mears-owned buses are the ones painted with the DME colors and characters.

If Mears doesn't have enough guests scheduled to arrive at the airport to fill a regular DME bus (or there is a reason for the DME-painted buses to not be available at a given time) they can send another vehicle in their shuttle fleet (bus, van, towncar, cab) to deliver guests to WDW.

I would not mind. Don't get me wrong, I love ME> I know I am officially on vacation when I step foot onto that bus and the video begins but if this is the worst thing that happens while I am in WDW I'm good.

I understand your disappointment.
When we were there in July, we had a regular Mears bus for our return trip to MCO. The driver put in a Madagascar movie instead of the regular Disney farewell one-- I missed seeing the Disney movie.. (plus, even if it is a cartoon, who wants to watch a movie about a plane crash when you're about to board a plane??)

I love the ME video, so I'd be a little disappointed but would NOT let it ruin my trip!

FWIW, every time we have done ME, we have only gotten the yellow Mears bus vs. the "actual ME bus"...imagine my surprise in July when we got an actual ME bus!!! I'm so ridiculous, I actually cried I was so happy!!! :yay:

But when I get the yellow bus, I just take it as status quo and don't give it another thought. Enjoy your trip!! :cool1:

Contrary to most other opinions, yes I would be a little upset. I look foward to that bus ride and the video. One of the best pictures I have of my 11yr old is her seeing the sign for the first time and realizing we are really here.(It was taken from the bus). I am sure I would get over it rather quickly once i see the hotel. But yes I am one who looks forward to the bus ride.

The first time we showed up and got a generic Mears bus that had a broken video system so we didn't even get the welcome video, yeah I was a little bummed. Ultimately it wasn't a BIG deal, but that ride all the way from MCO to AKL listening to random Mears guy give us generic tourist info about neighborhoods and schools and other "landmarks" kinda blew.

I'm sure a number of people out there reading will roll their eyes at the mere suggestion of this being a downer but it's the Disney details that you pay for. Generic Mears shuttle service is generic.

Not something to get angry about... because hey, things happen, and the most important thing is getting to the resort. But yeah, it's a little bit of a downer when you are looking forward to it.

Reminds me of the time (I'm dating myself here) when I took a chartered bus and they put on the movie Speed for us all to watch. :lmao:

I can understand an initial twinge of disappointment, but I don't think it would bother me that much.

One time 3 or 4 years ago a friend's husband arrived in the evening and we met him at the Beach Club. He was the only one on the bus! Perhaps they knew there was only a few people so it was cheaper to run a van rather than a full size bus.
