My friends ended up agreeing to take the stray cat while we tried finding her home, so she's been there this weekend. She's such a loving thing! We stopped by Sunday to see her again and my mom and I both think she has some Abyssinian blood in her, based on her bone structure and fur type and coloring. But being tabby, she's not pure Aby.
Anyway, I just finished calling *every* vet's office within 10 miles of our house with no luck (though I did locate 3 other vet clinics whose staff were as nice as the ones we take our animals to, so for future reference we have alternatives) as well as one shelter and left a message at another. An ad is going out in this week's community newspaper (nice thing, they do lost/found ads for free for just a few words) and we've posted one to the company classifieds. I'm looking into posting signs at the local big pet stores, too.
I'm sad for this girl, because she's so loving it's obvious at one time she had a good home. But no one's called the signs we posted around the neighborhood, there aren't any "lost" ads in the paper for the past week, and she was skinny enough to show she's been out for a while and hungry.
On the plus side, my friends have decided that if we don't find her home, they're going to try to keep her.
That finishes up how many cats they can have, but it does get her a good home.
She's got a vet appointment tomorrow, and they'll be checking for any microchipping there.
Any other suggestions that we're missing?
