No luck here - no upgrade :(

Just called DCL and they printed our docs yesterday (12/9 Wonder) but they still show our room as 7014 which means we did not get an upgrade. I know it's just random karma but I was hoping since we booked so early (a year ago) that we might luck out... Oh well, I doubt we'll be in the room much anyway!!

I can't wait!!!

I'm kinda hoping to get one on the 12/4 Magic. Still havent gotten the docs yet, hopefully they are on the way!

Don't be disappointed if you don't get a free upgrade. They're very rare.

And nobody on this board has figured out a pattern for who gets upgrades and how to increase ones chances by booking early, paying early, or any other method. The only thing that seems to increase the chance of an upgrade is to be booked in GTY status for a category rather than into a specific stateroom. But GTY status can also lead to the worst room in a category rather than to an upgrade. And if someone waits until there are only GTY rooms available for a category, chances are they've waited too long to book and they're paying much more than if they had booked early.

Always expect the room or category that you're booked in. Then, in the very unlikely case that you get an upgrade, be happy. That's much better than expecting an upgrade and the being disappointed when you get exactly what you booked after all.

I always hope, and then get disappointed, too. But remember ALL the cabins are beautiful.

I have this dream of mine, but on a much larger scale than a stateroom upgrade. My husband and I like driving around to see different "rich" peoples houses. Well, the dream goes like this. An older guy comes out of his house, down his driveway and wants us to have his house. Just like that. We own a million dollar home! He says something like you look like such a nice family and would love it if you took my home.

Well, at least you're in a great location . . . and they didn't lose you in the system or anything so you know you're guaranteed a spot on the ship.

And in just a few weeks you'll be enjoying somewhere warm, tropical, and tons of fun.

And then while you're on board, you can book your next trip for a 7 day journey and spend the next year or two hoping/praying/wondering if you'll qualify for an upgrade then
