I couldn't manage to snag a Le Cellier ressie, is there anywhere comparable to it that you all can suggest to me? Fiance really wants a good steak and a romantic atmosphere.

Also, is Mama Melrose really that bad? We love italian food but I keep reading awful things about it. :confused3

I would definitely recommend Kona Cafe for a mouth-watering, most excellent steak! :thumbsup2

Sorry you couldn't get LeCellier :confused3

I would also encourage you to keep trying to call to see if there are any openings between now and then. Can't hurt! Well maybe cell minutes!

Also there used to be a thread that people would tell each other when they were cancelling their reservations somewhere here and they (used to at least) were able to transfer the reservation I think.

Keep trying for LeCellier, I know some people here were cancelling because of the menu changes, so you never know what may open up!

We love Mama Melrose's, it's where we do our Fantasmic Dinner Pkg. every trip. Not sure why it gets such a bad rap, but we've never had anything but great food and great service there.

Yachtman's Steakhouse at the Yacht Club (very walkable from EPCOT) was good. I also had a good steak with some seafood at Coral Reef.

We had lunch at Mama Melrose's. It was fine. It wasn't outstanding in my opinion - but it certainly wasn't awful.

Yachtsman, I have a ton of pics and review in my April thread on my signature

My DH loved his steak from both Kona Cafe and Coral Reef. Also, we really liked the two times we ate at Mama Melrose ... the food was good and the service was even better! Both times we left an extra tip to the waiter (this was when the tip was covered on the dining plan).

How about trying Tutto at WS.... Combine your love of Italian with WS location???
We haven't been but are trying it in 20 days!!!!!

You could also try the Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. They have a great Char Crusted NY Strip that is fantastic. My husband has had it the last two times that we have visited and absolutely loved it.

Definitely keep calling. I called this afternoon to book a PS and the lady told me there was nothing available for an 8 day span. I immediately hung up the phone and called back and low and behold they were able to make a PS for me at "peak" dining hours. Sometimes I think the CM's don't always look for you. Sometimes I just get this feeling from them that they're not really trying. When this happens I call immediately back and ask someone else.

California Grille has a really yummy steak. Also hard to get into though.

We had a very good meal at Mama Melrose in November. The fried clamari was delicious as was the fish special.

I've been considering Captain's Grille as a 1TS alternate to Le Cellier. The menu looks very steak lover friendly.

I don't know if I can give you a place comparable to Le Cellier but I can definitely give you a recommendation on a couple of places better than Le Cellier. The Yachtsman is an excellent alternative that would probably most likely fit your requirement of "steak + romance". Shula's is an excellent steakhouse but I don't think anyone but Don Shula or a member of the '72 Dolphins would call the place "romantic". California Grill's steak options are limited but the filet is excellent (much better than Le Cellier) and the restaurant itself is quite romantic.

We have our first ressie at Le Cellier--but only because we said we'd take a lunch if we couldn't get dinner. I had read somewhere on the Dis boards to try that and it worked for us. Good luck!:goodvibes

Yachtsman Steakhouse is a great spot for steak. It's a 2TS restaurant so it's pricier but well worth it. Also, Jiko has a filet with Mac & Cheese which is out of this world. Great steak and great Mac & Cheese

Also, If you and your DH really like italian, don't go to mama melrose. I went there once and had the "Penne with Vodka Sauce." Well I make vodka sauce and that wasn't it. It was maranara sauce with about 10 pounds of salt. I won't go back there.

I would suggest Tutto Italia in Epcot for Italian. We haven't been yet but we're going in June and have heard great reviews

If you really want a good steak ya'll should really try to make a reservation at California Grill. I saw a lot of couples there when I went last time, so its definently a romantic spot. They have good apps and deserts as well. If you go at the right time, you can also see Wishes from the balcony of the restaurant.

Kona is a GREAT place for steak :cool1: :cool1: We ate there for the first time in September and now it's a must do every trip:woohoo: :woohoo:

Where is the Captain's Grille? I really want to try it now! This menu looks Yummy!:drinking1 :mickeybar
