No love for VGF

We haven't been over to VGF yet, but I already know I HATE BLT for almost t he same reasons the OP said they hated VGF. :rotfl2:

I dod't believe I ever used the word hate. But I did not enjoy the resort. by the way, the main lobby at GF is now three times as crowded with GFV guests.

Considering that the Grand Floridian hotel has 867 rooms, and the DVC has 147 villas (and its own lobby), I think perhaps it is a stupendous exaggeration to assert that the main hotel lobby is "3x as crowded" because of the villas?...

Nope. It looked 3 times as crowded. I stayed there many times before VGF. I guess DVC'ers enjoy common spaces more than others.

I know from management that the Gasparilla Grill is enjoying increased business not forecasted since the Villas opened.

Heh. No wonder the Disney company loves building DVC so much then. Now if we only could leverage those statistics into convincing them to double the headliner rides at EP and DHS...

But the cynical side of me is pretty sure that they see us as a captive audience, after we sign the DVC closing papers.

Strange.

DVCer's are supposed to just eat in their rooms.

Personally I've always found the GF lobby busy and didn't think it was any more busy in Dec.

I had no idea there was only one hot tub for the resort.
We enjoy time unwinding at the hot tub, and it's nice at some resorts, if one is really crowded we can easily find another.

I do hope to stay there someday, but likely only for a night or two. The photos I have seen are lovely.

Was surprised they cut back on the bathrooms for the one bedroom and two bedroom units.

You have a jetted tub in your villa (unless you have a studio). That's an advantage over the hotel rooms.

How can anyone not love the rooms at VGF?

You really take great pictures Mike. They are pretty rooms. But as I said, I miss the second bathroom in a 1br and I am not fond of the views. I also think BLT living room is larger.

I've waited for a studio to have a step in shower, and when one came, it costs basically the cost of a I bedroom!:lmao:Still, I look forward to our first stay in a VGF studio coming up in less than 2 months. I think if I can get the lake view in the future I will go with that!

I have no idea, thanks for sharing. Since I don't have enough points to probably ever stay there more than a night or two, I love that you share your home with us. It is gorgeous.

Last December, most of my dinners were at Gasparilla Island Grill. The make your own pasta dishes were delicious; I tried a different combination every night! Also, the atmosphere is both relaxing and reminiscent of Main Street, USA.

Trying for a WL for October trip, but wondering exactly how long the trek is to the monorail after reading a couple of reports that referenced how 'out of the way' the DVC building is.:confused3We've been to the resort for dinner several times, but can't say we've walked the grounds other than the lovely stroll to Narcossee. Would it be approx. the same distance?

Less than a 5 minute walk, not an issue.

I can't imagine it being any longer than the stroll downstairs, through the Contemporary lobby, across the covered bridge and into your room at BLT would be. :confused3:rotfl2:

I can't wait to stay at VGF in December. Hopefully won't be disappointed. The only thing that will be somewhat annoying is the lack of drawer space, apparently, in the studios. But we'll mange it.

This is exactly what I said to my sister!

She has been looking to buy in, and said she didn't want the GFV bc it's to far from the monorail..
Then she said they wanted BLT.. Which I would think is further away/if not the same distance from a monorail!

So now they are holding off to see what poly is going to be like..
