Next in was Mindy2k3's update from her lunch last Wednesday at DHS'...


50's Prime Time Cafe



She said, "My DH, and 2 DD's dined here. We wanted to make sure we cleaned our plates! Cousin Craig made sure we knew to keep our elbows off the table."




"We had a tv table. The girls enjoyed this!"




"I had a Dad's electric lemonade."



"It was a great drink and the glow cube is fun!"





"A glow cub drink for DD."







"We started with onion rings."



"They were very hot and crispy."




"Then we ordered fried chicken, with corn instead of collards. We don't like collards and knew they wouldn't get touched."





"My DD11 and I shared one order of chicken and my DH had another. We managed to finish everything but the onion rings."



"My DH had a few refills on his soda, cousin Craig made sure to let us know that mom would be putting on the plastic sheets tonight!"




"We had the s'mores for dessert."



"It was really good but we were too full to finish it."



"My DD said the fried chicken was her favorite meal of the trip. I am sure we will be eating here again next trip."

She said, "Last night before MNSSHP we had dinner at CHH. I had the broccoli peppercorn salad."




"This is the best CS salad I've had here. It was light a fresh."




"My mom had an Uncrustables kids meal."




"She wasn't too hungry but she also had some of my salad."



"My brother had the chicken/fish combo."



"He really enjoyed it."

Let's begin today with Jeri's (jerseytinkerbell) update from their dinner on Sunday at Wilderness Lodge's...





She said, "I love this painting when you enter the restaurant."

"Bread, butter and olive oil to start...

"I started with the Whiskey Glaze Confit Natural Bacon...



...topped with a Sunny-side Up Quail Egg, Red Curry Silk, and Almond Butter Blintz."

Served with Rainbow Cauliflower, Root Spinach, Lemon-Butter Sauce, Applewood Bacon Jam, and Short Rib Strudel


"My salmon was incredible! The short rib strudel was so good. Loved the cauliflower too. The lemon sauce on the plate really elevated the salmon. Rob liked his pork but when he tried my salmon he was disappointed he didn't order the same thing."



"We didn't like the look of anything on the dessert menu but here it is...






"I always get my picture taken here when I come to Wilderness Lodge...

Jeri then continued, "We didn't want dessert at Artist Point, so I had a better idea of where we could get something we really wanted...





"We went up to the bar and ordered our all time favorite WDW dessert...



...Almond-crusted Cheesecake."



"The bartender was awesome and so friendly and had no problem boxing up two of these for us to take back to enjoy in our room. This dessert was as good as I remember! Best dessert on property in my opinion."

She said, "Today we checked out of BLT and went to MK for an 8:05 am reservation at...






"We were one of the first ones in the restaurant...

"I loaded up on the breakfast lasagna, cheesy potatoes, corned beef hash, breakfast pizza, and of course the Pooh's puffed French toast. Yum! Everything was great!"

"I don't care what anyone says, I LOVE this buffet! Always a favorite for me."



"And of course, what visit to CP would be complete without the characters. Here we are with Tigger..."

She said, "This afternoon we checked in at Boardwalk and walked over to the Beach Club."




"Then we made our way over to...




"Yes, yes, you are seeing this right. Our third time at Beaches & Cream this trip. What can I say? We love it!"


"This time we just stuck to the food and drink menu. No ice cream today."







"We had a food déjà vu because once again I ordered the bacon cheeseburger...




"And Rob had the pot roast sandwich again...




"Everything was great here once again! Fabulous service every time too!"​

She said, "I got the blueberry croissant bread pudding."




"It was very moist, even though mine was the very last serving out of the pan."​

Melissa's next update was from the Food & Wine Festival booths.


She said, "I finally hit F&W after three days here!"


"I started in...






"Now, I've never been to Le Cellier, and after this, I probably won't be going. It was good, but it took a few bites to get used to the saltiness of it. And I love salt, so that's saying something. The huge pile of mushrooms were welcome though. Yum!"



"Next was...




"I was originally going to get one of everything - the food, that is - but I chickened out of the escargot and decided against the creme brulee. That just left the short ribs."



"Good portion, good taste, and the potatoes were awesome in texture. Mashed and thick, with little chunks. Perfect!"




"Next was...





"Where I got:



"Waffle was overdone, and the berries were bitter. I would try the chocolate one next time."



"Next up...



"Hi, Mr. Floating Hand!"

"Japan is my favorite of all the countries, both in food and culture."


"I chose the teriyaki chicken roll."



"Very yummy! I wish I had one right now."​

Then Melissa continued, "In France, they have the chocolate creme brulee for $4 for a tiny cup. For the same price, I went to...

"And since I love cheating the system: I stopped by the Japanese bar across from the dept. store and saw a drink that sounded awfully familiar. They have the green tea colada, same as the F&W version for nearly the same price for double the amount."

Melissa then said, "After a short break to digest, I headed to...






"The pork slider was SO good. I wanted a full-size one!"




"Next was...







...where I got the Chocolate Orange Cupcake."


"I am a cupcake fiend (more will show up in my reports later this week, I'm sure), so I had to try this. The cake was moist and chocolatey and the frosting wasn't too heavy with an orange taste that wasn't overpowering. I'd get it again."




"Next up...







...and the Seared Scottish Salmon."


"And this is where my pictures start go downhill because it was so bright I couldn't see where my camera was focusing (or NOT focusing)."

"The salmon was good (I had them leave off the malt vinegar), the watercress was strange (never had it and never want to again), and the mashed cauliflower was AMAZING! I am tempted to go back later this week and see if they can just give me a dish of this stuff."





"Next was...







...for the Chocolate Cake."

"This was a last minute decision, as I had no plans to stop at this booth. I saw someone pass me with this, and when I saw there was no line, I went for it."

"I can't remember exactly what was is in this dish, but it was good. Like really good. You couldn't tell it was vegan at all. I had a hard time telling this cake and the cupcake apart, except this one was a little more moist and dense. The fruity sauce was really good with the cake too."

"Where I got the Grilled Beef Skewer...




"The meat was good, nice and tender. I'd never had this type of sauce before and it wasn't bad, it just wasn't my thing. It came off the meat pretty easily though. The boniato puree was good, but I wish I would've had this first and then the cauliflower. The cauliflower was so good that it made this one look sort of bland."​

She said, "Before I headed out of Epcot for the evening, I stopped by...









...and got a Canto Loopy."





"This was the best drink I think I've ever had. I love melon and this was the perfect taste and cantaloupe and the slight kick of alcohol. So peaceful to sit at Lotus Blossom Cafe and sip this."
