My husband and I will be coming to DLR in July to celebrate our 10th anniversary! We also honeymooned at DLR so its going to be fun! This will be our first trip to DLR since our honeymoon that is KID FREE!!! What are your suggestions for fun things to do sans kids?

Some thoughts...

  1. Visit Trader Sam's Tiki Bar at the DLH or any of the bars/lounges.
  2. Take the (free) tour of Carthay Circle in the morning. It's only about 15-20 minutes, but the CM has lots of interesting information about the Carthay Circle and you get to see an empty restaurant.
  3. Have a table service meal at one of the "fancier" restaurants (e.g., Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55, etc.).
  4. Book one of the walking tours.

*Get there at rope drop, but instead of racing to attractions, head for one of the restaurants that has an outside terrace and have breakfast while watching the park come alive!
*Shop the shops at a nice leisurely pace.
*Stroll the parks most scenic spots after dark holding each other and reminiscing about the past visits, and planning for the next.

Don't feel guilty about leaving the kids behind, just have a great time!! You'll love it!

Congrats!! My advice is to just enjoy each other. Enjoy quality time together, hold hands, eat leisurely lunches, have romantic suppers. Speaking as someone who always has went either as a child or as a Mom with my family, enjoy going on the rides together!!

Have a wonderfully romantic and magical time!

Ill be watching this thread closely!! Hubby and I are going ALONE at Christmas in Dec! I can't wait. Im sure Ill be lost without the kids, but I can't wait to be alone with the hubster!!

Great ideas so far! :thumbsup2

DH and I love to sit at the Cove Bar in CA with a delicious drink or two! Napa Rose is also a fabulous place for dinner. It's $$$ but definitely worth it :thumbsup2

When it gets hot in afternoon, go back to your hotel for a nap in the AC!! Then you can eat off site! Before returning for a night of fun!!

We just did this on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. We actually toured very similarly to how we normally would. The biggest difference was that we got to do EVERYTHING together, and we didn't have to deal with diaper changes or ride swapping, or tired/crabby kids. It was fun, but I was missing my kids by the evening. We did this a few years ago too. It is nice to go just the two of you.

DH and I are going to be doing the "no kid" trip in July and we are super excited!! For us, our plan is to take it easy. We are usually pretty commando, but this time we want to slow down and relax. We plan on doing a nice lunch at Blue Bayou and just going with the flow. One thing we are looking forward to is being able to stay up late. With our kids, we can barely get them to stay up past 8pm. We have never done DL at night, so we are excited to see all the beautiful lights we always miss out on. Good luck!!

We just did our 15th Anniversary trip (left kids home) to DLR at the beginning of the month. I agree with the PP about spending more time there at night. I'm not sure how many days you are spending in the parks, but if it's more than two, I would suggest taking an afternoon break just as you would with kids (maybe go commando on your last day to finish everything left on your list). 7 or 8 AM to Midnight is a lot of work on the feet/legs. We did jungle cruise and storybookland canal boats at night and BTMRR during the fireworks (you can get a FP for that time window and time it right).

We also enjoyed trying different snacks and treats that we would never be able to buy for all six of our kids. We also watched more live entertainment and shows than our kids would have the attention span for.

We've done a few sans kiddos trips and our favorite experience by far was Napa Rose Chef's counter!! It was incredible! It took us three hours to get through our meal. It's like dinner and a show all in one! And the food was to die for! Really wonderful adult experience! Blue Bayou waterside is one of our other romantic faves too. Ambiance is superb!

Other than that, just do what YOU want when you feel like it! Sleep in, lounge by the pool, people watch at the parks, eat your favorite foods, go on rides on a whim, watch some shows, enjoy carsland at night in all of it's neon splendor, walk around the pier hand-in-hand, shop in peace (because we all KNOW that can't be done with kids! ha!). It's our favorite to really have no plans at all! Just go and enjoy being together! Leisurely touring is so much fun with no strollers and kid crap to schlep around! Enjoy yourselves! :goodvibes
