No JOB

Hi Allison,
How about a couple suggestions? I've been a recruiter and a career development coach, so believe me, I can understand your pain, from both sides.

If you need "a job", cast your net wide with an eye toward developing related experience. For example - in a mall - sell for a sports store - may give you a chance to develop " performance coaching" skills. Or Build-a-Bear workshop, where your psychology and people skills could come in to play.

How about finishing your Master degree through distance education? That combination of credits could get you well on your way to something. There are many possibilities.

Are you capable of hanging out your shingle as a 'performance coach'? Would you consider doing something like "residential counselor" in a group home? Could you qualify as a school counseler in a public or private school?

Sooner or later, the door will open for you. I've seen it happen time and again. I wish you courage in the face of rejection, tenacity to persevere, and many years of happiness with your young man.

Allison,

:grouphug: I'm so sorry that you didn't get the job. I understand when you have your heart set on a job and you don't get it. I work at a University and it's very interesting how things work here. Unfortunately, who you know is more important than what you know. I'm going up for a new job and am hoping but not putting all my eggs in that basket!

Please don't go away from the boards. We all have something to contribute and yours will be lost if you go away! :grouphug:

Hi LindaBabe- Thanks so much for the wishes! I have one masters in Education do you think I should finish the other one 2? Your sugguestions are great but my area is really small and my area does not offer anything the sport profession that I am looking for except for coaching and that would only be high school level and there really is not any money in that since I amnot a teacher - I can't be a school counselor because if I had finished my ED Psych Masters I could have BUT when I was there you had to had a teaching certifiaction to do that, they have just recently changed the law on that - which is the reason I am looking at academic advisement- Thanks for the ideas so much they are really great.

So sorry to hear that... I hope you find out what happened... I am sure something better will come along for you :surfweb:
