No Italian restaurants serve Chicken Vesuvio???

We must like our Lemon here in the midwest. It's a very light sauce but I'm sure it's not for everyone. :rotfl2:

I like lemon, but its for Scallopini or Piccata dishes. Saltimbocca is supposed to be made with ham, spinach and white wine. Did it even have ham?? !! Ham and lemon = gross!

I dont think Disney is aiming for a master class in Italian cooking. :)

If people like what they order, that's great!

Awesome! I've never actually made it at home. I'm going to try, but I'll make it easier on myself and just buy chicken thighs or various pieces (bone in). I do not know how to debone a chicken. :p

These are not master class dishes. If you order Chicken Piccata and it comes with red sauce, youd be shocked. Im glad the PP pointed out the lemon at MM. I would have ordered "Saltimbocca" and been disappointed. Its my favorite.

Just like ordering pizza and having lemon sauce instead of tomato, or Peking Ravioli filled with lemon, or chicken teriyaki with lemon sauce. Or tacos with lemon sauce instead of salsa. Just not the norm.

That wasn't my point. If people are reading the menu descriptions, choosing to order and enjoying the food, then good for them. :) Here's the one from Mama Melrose:

Saltimbocca -Pork Tenderloin topped with Prosciutto, Sage, Fontina Cheese, Tuscan Mashed Potatoes, Broccolini, and Lemon Caper Sauce

And whatever you do, don't google people's saltimboca recipes, you might pass out (apparently a lot of people add lemon, including that famous Italian Giada!). ;)

You seemed excitable in your posts, I thought you were actually upset.

Happy eating!

Maybe because Im Italian ;) Its the way we talk. But if you'd like I can stop writing and just use my hand gestures to talk to you :)

There's lots of us Italians on this board. Must be why Disney has so many italian restaurants!

Have a great week everyone!

It’s a Chicago thing. I love the Chicken Vesuvio at Harry Caray’s. So delicious!

Being Greek/Turkish/Spanish and use lemon in pretty much everything, lol Your recipe sounds wonderful except for the peas 🙄

Green peas? No, just no. :sad2: It may be one of those obscure Chicago neighborhood dishes. ED

I loved Lidia Bastianich's TV show on PBS about the evolution and cooking of Italian-American cuisine; taught me a lot. Don't recall seeing Chicken Vesuvio on any menus on the east coast but the recipe reads well. I especially like the green peas which makes it sound very spring like.
