My nephew took ONE pacifier. Sister and BIL said they went through tons. :rotfl:

those little things aren't cheap either. I must have spent at least 30$ on pacifiers he wont take...

I have read this entire thread...please tell me where someone said that. Not one person has advocated exhibitionism. :headache:

Not that exhibitionism is completely wrong...I've seen some VERY beautiful portraits and artwork of mothers BFing hanging in museums and art galleries, not to mention all the nudes;)

But, I guess that means that many don't go to museums either being that such things are disrespectful...

Really? Then you might need some reading glasses- this bizarro thread has really outlived it purpose. And like I said before- I'm not interested in seeing the ta ta s- anywhere, for any reason and neither are my kids or DH etc. Grab a blanket-it's indecent. etc. etc. etc.

Don't look. It's not indecent to nurse a baby, it's not necessary to cover up with a blanket.

Not to be rude, but if you are not interested in seeing them then why would you look? If you go to a store and you are not interested in looking at say the appliances then you don't look at them. You go to look at things you like. Same concept. I don't really think any nursing Mom is standing in front of you with her breast at eye level forcing you or your family to look.:confused3

This just proved my above point.:rolleyes1

Not to be snarky, but how do you get anything done? My son sucked on a pacifier probably half of his waking hours until he was about 6 months old.

nothing got done around here the first few weeks.. now he's a little older he doesn't use me quite as much. it is very time consuming. I use to wear him in the snugli alot that helped. Right now he's hanging out on my shoulder.. Thankfully the 3 others are pretty self sufficient. :thumbsup2 If they were younger I honestly dont think I would have stuck with it.

My parents bought two pieces of art for their home that depicted a woman breastfeeding her child. One was a large print and the mother's hair is flowing everywhere. The other was a small statue showing the woman from the waist up. Both ****s out.

Should we cover up the Venus de Milo or the statue of David so as to not offend someone's delicate sensibilities? Or can we teach those people to not go look?

Seriously? Please point out these posts. Where did anyone say that it is okay to have the girls swinging in the breeze without a baby attached?

And if BF is so "indecent" than I am assuming that you don't watch any primetime TV in your house, recieve no magazines, don't take your kids to the beach or basically wear blinders every wear you go. Good gravy, it is the side of a breast. I am astonished at some of the hang ups on this thread.

I painted neon targets on each of mine before I went out.

There are beautiful paintings of nudes in museums, my parents have them hanging in their house, yet I don't want to walk in and see my dad naked - that, my friend, is not art! :rotfl2:

I actually had a flashing neon light made to go around mine!!! I (of course) used the string pull to turn it off on any dark rides, though.

GMTA!

Well if I were David, personally, I'd be covering that stuff up. Just sayin.' :rolleyes1

Actually, a very dear friend of our family(who happens to be an artist in NY) did a protrait of my mother feeding my Dsis. The protrait hung proudly in our living room until my DM's death. My Dsis now has the portrait which is displayed proudly in her home.

I don't have problems with breast feeding at all - in public or in private..

However, regardless of how "natural" it is - or how "nature intended it to be" -there is absolutely no reason why it can't be done discreetly.. Nowadays they even have clothing that is designed specifically for breast feeding in public..

When out in large crowds, you are encountering people with all different kinds of view points.. Some are more modest than others.. Some prefer that their children not witness a woman's bare breast.. Some have issues with it for religious reasons..

To expose yourself just because you "can" is no different than allowing your five year old to pee on a bush in WDW - just because he "can"..

There are numerous options available to breast feeding mom's so that it can be performed in a discreet manner.. If they "choose" not to use them, then yes - they're being rude and inconsiderate of others around them..
