No ID required for military discount tix entrance?

I agree it's wrong for her to try and pass her 3 year old off as a 2 year old. But I would still feel sorry for the poor lady and her kids if, and most likely when, she and her family get turned away at the gate. Don't forget, it was the aquaintance's brother, who IS military, that misinformed her that she could use those tickets. She is relying on her brother's word that he is correct. I don't see anyone here jumping on his back and judging him. He gets a free pass for sending his sister on her way with those tickets, but his sister is getting torched here? Perhaps he himself was misinformed when he purchased those tickets as well. I wouldn't wish for anyone to get burned over what may be a very innocent misunderstanding.

I was invited to Nascar the week were going to disneyland by my father in law so I'm not going to Disney but my spouse and the family are still going so I can buy the tickets and my spouse can use them with the family right?

Heres what I read thats kind of doubting that I can do that.

As long as your wife has a current military ID (which states she is a spouse), it should be no problem activating the tickets -- she just needs to show them the ID.

When we used them last fall, my SIL & BIL were able to buy the tickets at Guest Services and have them activated as I was with them and showed my military ID. (I'm the spouse)

Day 1 I'm going because my daughter wants me to get on TSM. And
Y wife will be there the other 2 days I was just a little confused because it says on the terms I need to be there each visit

Have a great trip! Once the tickets are activated they will work just fine!

Enjoy!

I thought as long as she didnt remarry she kept her priveleges......never really looked into it just thought I remember reading that.....

There is a way for a divorced spouse to keep their privileges, depending on the service the rules are a bit different. I believe Air Force as long as they do not remarry....and the other branches it is if they were married for a certain period of time and he was in the military a certain period of time (20 years for both if I am not mistaken).

Dependent privileges can get a bit tricky. I am not sure what Disney would do if they had one of those come by.....but I am betting they would most likely error on the side of caution and permit the use, but you never know.

That is why I'm wondering what the ID card actually shows for relationship - I think it's going to say spouse...regardless of the actual ex-status. That's why I wanted the original poster to have his mom check to see.

It surprises me that the brother never considered that she would be ID'ed. As all you military people know we are ID'ed to death. You can't move without someone asking for your ID so it really surprises me that he thinks that he can buy her those without her being ID'ed.

I will give you nonmilitary people an example of a typical day for many military families. I am going to run errands totaling a trip to the grocery store, a department store, well baby check up and then the library. Typical errands, huh? First I will be checked at the gate prior to entering the base, I will then be ID'ed at checkout at the Commissary (grocery store). I will saunter over to the Exchange (department store) where they will ID me at checkout. At the checkup I will be ID'ed at appointment checkin and sometimes at appointment checkout if I need to schedule another one. Then it is off to the library where I will be checked again and if I need to stop and get gas during any of this and pay with cash I run the risk of getting checked again. That is a possible total of 7 times in approximately 3-4 hours and that is typical. We are happy to do it as it keeps us and ya'll safe but it amazes me he didn't consider this.

If she isn't military I would advise her against using the tickets as she may not realize that these aren't supposed to be for her. We are blessed with these discounts because of the sacrifice both our service member and our families give to this country every day. We often don't even buy the tickets until the last minute in case his leave is pulled. I can't tell you how many vacations we have had to cancel. Military families deal with deployments, missed holidays (hubby is missing Easter this year due to TDY), isolation, and a multitude of other things. Are we owed these discounts? No. Are we grateful for these discounts? You betcha. Does it make us angry that someone would use a service for us that they aren't entitled to? Absolutely. That is why you are getting the responses you are getting. So until her husband has missed holidays, been separated from his family for long periods of time, and she has sat by the phone worrying because her allotted phone call is late while he is in danger of being killed she has no right to the discount.

Getting off soapbox now... :)

I'm an Army Spouse. DH was supposed to go on our trip last July but couldnt because of training schedule issues so I went with our kids and my DSis instead. I was able to activate the tickets no problem, I was able to use our military room discount at check in with no problem. He wasn't there for the entire week we were.

I'm a wife of a retired Air Force member. My two sisters and my daughter and I are going to Disneyland this weekend. I caled the local ITT office to order the four tickets (Disneyland has a special 3 day pass for military) and they took the names of all four people for the tickets. I went to pick them up, and of course had to show my ID to do this, and it was a printed out sheet of paper with the names on them that clearly states that there must be a military member (me in this case) present to aquire real tickets at the ticket booth before entering the park. After we get the real tickets they can be used without me present. I'm afraid this young woman is going to be very dissapointed at the gate.

So after some talking I will be attending the parks but was curious I can visit each of the parks as long as I only go to 2 a day for 3 days . example disneyland 2 days ca adventures 1 day

So I called the base here in va and all they have is seaworld tickets they told me I can't order Disneyland tickets . How else can I get them I don't want to spend my first day in Cali driving to San Diego

Drive to Ventura to Port Hueneme, and buy tickets there. It is a nice drive up the coast if you take the PCH. Are you flying to Ca. and if so what airport and what time are you arriving?

Instead of SP (spouse) or URW (unremarried widow) it show URFS (unremarried former spouse). It requires that they be married for at least 20 years, spouse was in the military for at least 20 years and the 20 years of marriage and military overlapped (20/20/20). They retain all the rights of a military spouse until they remarry.

Camp Pendleton MWR office will take telephone orders. (760) 763-3183/3184 They charge a FedEx fee (I think it was $8.00 but I don't recall exactly) but you will have them the next day. That is what we did when we went to DL from Ohio.

I have just checked Disney's Internal Web Site and it states the Disneyland Armed Forces Salute Tickets are available at the Disneyland Resort Box Office but are not advertised. So you can get them right at the Park.
