No ID required for military discount tix entrance?

I know the rules about the salute tickets require a military member or their spouse to activate the tickets but how about a divorced spouse with military privileges? I know it sounds like a stupid question but my parents divorced after my Dad retired and my Mom has a dependent id card. I know she is not technically a spouse but I'm not sure what status her id card gives her since she still has all her dependent privileges. She called a MWR offices and they told her she could still buy and activate the Salute tickets but I'm not convinced.

just have your mom check her dependent card (her dd1173)and see what it says in the relationship box. report back.

I thought as long as she didnt remarry she kept her priveleges......never really looked into it just thought I remember reading that.....

AFAIK, the relationship box on the ID has be "spouse" (or the servicemember) to be able to get the tickets. Disney's rule is that only the servicemember and his/her spouse can buy and activate the military tickets. If it doesn't say "spouse" she will not be able to activate them.

Or Unremarried Widow.

So glad I stumbled across this thread as I was thinking of letting DD (18) go with friends to WDW for graduation. I honestly thought she would be able to activate the ticket with her ID card. Would have been a real mess if she got to the gate and couldn't do it. Thanks for clarifying!!!

What if I buy a 3 day pass for my wife me and my family and only plan on going 2 of the 3 days. Will they have a problem getting in the other day when Im not there? I will be there the first 2 days just not the last

With any Disney ticket which has restriction, such as Florida Resident ot Military, the ID is only required when the tickets are purchased/activated. One they are live tickets the sponsor does not have to be with them.

You have to activate your tickets before you used them and they need to be activated with the military member or military dependent ID. She won't be able to use them if he is not there.

So since I will be there the first day to activate them and enjoy the park the second day I dont have to be there because thy will be activated. On the 3rd day since I will be there just be like the first day

Correct. Once activated, you do not need to be with them.

We are going to purchase just a 1 day MYW ticket from SoG, do we need to stop at GR and activate it like we did the Military Salute Ticket?

When we have used our military tickets we only had to show our ID when activating them, after that they are just like regular tickets when you go through the turnstiles with no need to show ID again. At least that has always been our experience.

There is a way for a divorced spouse to keep their privileges, depending on the service the rules are a bit different. I believe Air Force as long as they do not remarry....and the other branches it is if they were married for a certain period of time and he was in the military a certain period of time (20 years for both if I am not mistaken).

Dependent privileges can get a bit tricky. I am not sure what Disney would do if they had one of those come by.....but I am betting they would most likely error on the side of caution and permit the use, but you never know.

This is one policy we are required to strictly enforce. If the DD-1173 does not indicate Spouse or Unremarried Widow we cannot sell or activate the Armed Forces Salute Tickets.
