No hope for World Showcase...

I think the point you fail to understand is that the plans were leaked just months before it was announced. Sure both the leak and announcement may have been a year ago, but a lot of progress has been made in that year. If Disney did the same thing for EPCOT, something could be leaked next week and D23 could announce the expansion officially.

When Disney wants to, they can keep things underwrap.

I guess it needs to be clarified that i was informed that something was going on in that area, was to happen, well before the plans were leaked. I didn't know what, but i knew the area was being looked at. I don't think i'm the only person on the internet who was given that sort of heads up.

Compare that to World Showcase where it's not even a consideration until 2019 according to just 1 person so far.

Last I checked, 2019 was still a lot different then "ever." as well.

Hindsight is 20/20 as well.

Again, according to 1 person, where's all the other evidence other folks were claiming they "knew" because of?

Or did one person say it and everyone wanted to believe it?

So, you make a provocative statement to start this thread, w/o any type of basis or evidence, then take offense when you are called on your questionable statements. I can't speak for everyone else, but I think that, if you are going to go making the statements you made, you need to have some sort of credible evidence to back it up.

Uh-huh. I have as much proof and have put just much forth as the only person who has offered anything contrary to what I said.

Again - it sounds like you just want to believe what you want to believe. Between two options which have equal weight you're choosing the one you want to be true, and worse, parroting it as the truth as though you can stand behind it.

Do you ever even question why you just believe such nonsense?

Further backhanded complimenting to insinuate that your opinion offers more validity then another.

Just coming across this thread, I have to tell you it's kind of hilarious..it's like two kids taunting eachother with "My Dad can beat up your Dad!" I'm waiting for "neener neener".

Let's all agree on this, there is nothing major in the plans for Epcot for at least 2-3 years. PEople complain about the lack of spending at WDW, but a lot of this has to do with all the money being laid out in DCA...there's a billion dollars being spent there. That is followed immediately with the FLE. When THAT is done, then we will likely see some work in the other parks...but I wouldn't be surprised if Epcot WS is low on the list.

The other thing I will say is, we won't KNOW that something is up in Epcot until Disney WANTS us to know. As OP stated, people believe what they want to believe when rumors fly around.

The whole point of this exercise is to get some people to start thinking. The World Showcase just happens to be an easy target.

So many people online assume Disney is constantly working on ways to improve the parks and there'as always a plan around the corner waiting to be greenlit. Like there's some Keebler elves endless toiling away for the good of the parks. That's just not true.

These same people consistently believe lies fed to them by various "sources" on the internet that tell them things are going to be fixed, that this-or-that is just temporary, that its something the company is looking into. 99% of the time that is entirely false.

Worse? If you don't formally complain about it, the company says everything is fine and people enjoy it.

Think of all the things that you think are wrong with the parks. Think of the things that literally hundreds of people complain about online. Now think about which of those items there's rumors and someone with authority said is going to be addressed in the future, or it's just waiting for budget approval, or it's coming eventually?

I've seen horrible mistakes get glossed over time and again because the public was lulled into complacency by false rumors and false hope. Disney doesn't count ANYTHING as a complaint unless you formally send them a letter. Not things you stop by guest services to say, not stuff you talked to that manager in Tomorrowland about, not that quick comment you posted to the Disney parks blog.

No, their world is blissfully unaware of just how unhappy many people are with many aspects of their world because they created a system where feedback is essentially not considered unless it's formally submitted in writing to a single processing address that most people don't know exists.

So they have no clue that a good lot of people would like another ride in World Showcase. They don't think people don't like the current Imagination ride.

And why is no one writing in? Well, it's not because people don't want these changes. Look at how much action past speculation on those events has gotten on these forums and others. People love to jump in and say they wish this or that existed, just like you said.

No, it's because people are told it's being looked at, it's awaiting budget approval, it's coming soon, just wait a little longer, a little longer, a little longer..

When it's patently untrue.

So people wait, nothing comes, and people still believe the smoke and mirrors tricks employed by those "in the know" as they're being misled. If people had some clue to the level they're being mislead maybe they'd write those letters and some of those changes would actually happen.

You sound very bitter towards something that is classed as a leisure time destination, its not something your having forced on you. If you dont like what WDW has to offer and feel the need for feedback, then I question a) why you go to the parks and b) why your so involved in them?

As i stated previous, the top line, there theme parks. I know to everyone on here, they are much more than that, but if you look at it bluntly thats what they are and you seem to have alot of frustration towards them.

WDW Is that big there are always going to be rumours, what you are saying when you say 'there is nothing gonna be built for x amount of years', is another rumour at the end of the day, and chances are someone is gonna take that and post it on another board/blog.

Just chill, enjoy whats there and look forward to what improvements they make in the future :)

Millions of people visit WDW per year, so im guessing somewhere in Disney they know what there doing!

If we treat Disney parks like Blackpool's park with that level of quality standards, it'll end up like it.

That is not a good thing.

Holding Disney accountable for its own quality standards - the ones is flaunts in its promotional materials and books it writes about its history - is what is going to keep the parks from sinking to a level where it's comparable to Blackpool or Six Flags.

As for knowing what they're doing - attendance is still down at MK and Epcot compared to historic levels prior to the opening of MGM and AK. Also, for the last few years the entire resort was flat for attendance, with this year looking to begin down-trending, as in losses.

You're just parroting more misinformation you think is true.

Jordan, for what it's worth, my DW and I hope to visit Blackpool in a couple of years when we get back to England. :)

Set your expectations accordingly low.

You have abit of a chip on your shoulder dont you! Many people enjoy Blackpool, the Pleasure beach is a laugh, the sandcastle is good fun and 5 donuts for £1.....what more can you want!!!

I hate to see how high your standards are, Blackpool Pleasure Beach isnt good enough, Walt Disney World isnt good enough......Has someone been playing too much Theme Park on there PC? :rotfl:

Jordan, don't take it personally. He has a history of inciting pointless discussions that degrade everytime a) he posts, and b) someone disagrees with him. He's been removed from at least a couple of boards in the past. I apologize for not researching that sooner.

5 donuts for a pound? Rate of exchange makes that about 30-40 cents each? Hmmmm

So saying that Blackpool is a lesser quality park then something Disney has created is saying something that is to be taken personally?

I'm sorry, was I not aware he built the park himself or some such nonsense?

Shouldn't there be rumors on the internet - since everything gets leaked - shouldn't there be meetings with Disney and country officials that are vaguely
No, I see no reason whatsoever for the United States to get involved in anything Walt Disney World decides to do in Central Florida on property it already owns :confused3

Well, that's just it - you pretty much proved the point yourself. The second there were "plans" they were leaked.
Ah, gee, no, you must have missed this

Plans weren't "leaked", they were announced. In addition, as chrisw127 points out, the plans had to be in the works for years - WITHOUT being leaked - before the announcement. You don't just wake up one morning and say, "Hey, kids - let's redesign Fantasyland", and announce it and THEN start planning it. That'd be stupid - and Disney's not stupid.
