No Grumpy Guses Allowed! Updated 5/15- We have plane tickets!

All right, I guess you guys are off the hook... I posted on the restaurant boards and they assured me that both Pooh and Tigger are regulars at 1900 PF breakfast. :cheer2:

Glad I got that figured out since my ADR date is only 107 days away. :rolleyes1

Only problem is now that we're not going to CP Kya wants to go to BOG!! :faint:

It's not our first night, there are only 2 of us, and I'm not picky about time so I'm hoping that we'll be able to get in! :scared:

So, if you're keeping score our *current* ADR wish list (subject to change, of course!!) is:

1900PF breakfast
BOG dinner
Sci-Fi lunch
RFC dinner (I've already got half the points I need for a free gift card from My Points to cover this!P :cool1:

My planning is a little stalled right now because, as I mentioned above, we're pretty far out from our trip. :hourglass However, I'm not sure Kya has ever actually seen Mary Poppins and if we're going to meet her at 1900PF we need to remedy that so I think we'll do a Disney day sometime soon. For those who haven't followed along before we get a little excited about our Disney days so it should be fun- anyone have any supercalafragilistic recommendations for a menu??

Seriously, there is ALWAYS something else to crop up and make me feel like such a dolt for not realizing it sooner! :scratchin

I was researching character breakfast choices for a client and found the list for 1900 PF includes POOH!! :confused3 How did I miss this little tidbit? Honestly, when I looked at allears I didn't pay much attention to the characters because I *thought* I knew who would be there- Mary Poppins, Alice, and the Hatter. No one ever talks about Pooh and Tigger being anywhere other than Crystal Palace. When I did a search on the DIS to try to confirm it the newest title search was TWO years old.

Anyway, what this has to do with my plans is that I'm now rethinking the Crystal Palace dinner. The ONLY reason we were planning to go there was so Kya could meet Pooh without having to worry about getting to a character spot on time. So, anyone know if Pooh is actually there daily? Karen, I know you went on your last trip- was Pooh there? :confused3

Sorry! I just saw this, I've been bad about keeping up on the DIS. You would think since I have an upcoming trip I would be better, but nope.

Yes! Pooh and Tigger! Don't you READ my TR's?!?! ;)

I was on a dis hiatus for your last TR! :p

But now I need to read it and see your take on this breakfast because the character interaction is getting rave reviews on my other thread.

It was our last day, you can find it in the table of content! :thumbsup2

KEEP IN MIND that my review is colored by the fact that we really found character meals not to our liking anymore on this trip. It just felt awkward and none of our character meals were really that great. Well...I take that back, CP breakfast is always awesome, but I think that's partially just b/c it's the first day, I'm not sure.

Gah! We'll see I guess. :worried:

We walked by Pooh on our last trip thinking we'd see him later (rookie mistake) so Kya is DETERMINED to see him this time. It's funny because I've only ever read great things about CP but the people responding to my thread on the restaurant board are all saying that 1900PF is better than CP. :confused3

Oh well, we're sticking with it and if nothing else there will be strawberry soup... and I'm seriously considering having a chocolate slipper delivered to our BREAKFAST because it's one of the few places we can get it... :rolleyes1

I'm glad you got that figured out. ;) I forgot they were there. I think poor Pooh and Tigger get overlooked since they're at CP and more attention is paid to Alice, Mary, and Mad Hatter. Poor guys. :sad2:

I"m alive. Truly. Don't give up on me! Hopefully this weekend I can have time to breathe and DIS a while!! :)

I get it, truly I do! Sometimes I find a few minutes to read the threads I'm subscribed to but have trouble finding time to respond! And just scrolling the boards? Forget about it!

I don't know about you, Hope, but having a trip so far out is annoying!!!! But I can book the Grand on February 5th, so soon I can get this rolling again....How are you doing???

Thanks! Sorry I didn't respond soooner- somehow I missed this! :)

Oooh, you're booking date is THIS WEEK!! That's so exciting!! I'm having a hard time waiting BUT I'm planning for clients and that helps- thinking about when and where I should book other people's dining keeps me sane until I can book my own- in 101 days. :rolleyes1

And I read this on my phone Saturday but waited to respond until I could be on my laptop. And then they shut the boards down for these VERY WEIRD and DIFFICULT TO ADJUST TO changes.:confused3

I have a Disney related real life update to share with you guys--- yesterday the owner of the travel agency I work for approved me for my very own CLIA card which means I can book our room and buy my ticket at TA rates! I already have enough money saved for those prices so as soon as I get my photo ID (which I have to fax a copy of to Disney when I book) I'm booking our trip! It's really for real happening (both the trip AND my status as a TA)! party:

Hang on--- I can't edit the title of the thread any more?!? So I'm stuck with updated 1/26 as part of my permanent title. :confused3 :crazy2:

All caught up and I LOVE every bit of this trip!!!:jumping1:

First off you have a lovely family. Your niece is adorable, and DD is a beautiful young lady. So glad you girls are planning a trip together. As you see, I'm a fan of girls only trips :p

Your tentative plans sound great, changes and all! And how great that you'll be able to enjoy some delicious food at F&W!!:mickeybar

Super glad you're able to get your TA rate for the trip!! Super pixiedust: for you girls!

Since your trip is only about two months after ours your dates for ADRs are coming up fast, faster still are your park hours (Sept just hit). Can't wait to see how your plans solidify over the next few months!!:yo-yo:party:

Okay, let's try this again... My app froze up and posted the quote before I could actually respond.

So, :welcome: I'm so excited for a girls trip- my planning is even different than it would be for a trip with the grumps, lol. I'm anxious for park hours, nervous but ready to see if my plans are going to work out or need tweaking. :crazy2:

Well, you knew there'd be more changes didn't you? If not you may not have been paying attention. :rolleyes1

The booking engine for TAs has been down and yesterday it finally got back up and running again. :cool1: However this threw a HUGE monkey wrench in my plans... The LM rooms at AoA aren't available for the discount! :sad2: Kya is SO disappointed and I am too- we were both really excited about staying at AoA and TBH I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this change. I'll get there and I know we'll have a magical trip wherever we stay. But still.

So, now I have a few options:

  1. I can book AoA with no discount. This seems ridiculous. I can book a discounted mod cheaper than a full price LM room at AoA. Just throwing out there but I doubt we'll go this way- unless Kya seems extremely disappointed with other options. I know she'll be open to what've but I can tell when she's just trying to be accommodating and if that's the case I may reconsider. :confused3
  2. I can book a mod that will be slightly more expensive but also closer to the parks. I'd probably go with POR so we could take the boat to DTD. With just two of us though I'm not sure it's worth the added expense since we don't really NEED the extra space.
  3. I can book another value resort. ASMovies is most similar in theming to AoA with the giant characters. We've stayed at AS resorts before and they're fine. But a bit run down- Disney doesn't devote as much maintenance to the value resorts- this is one reason I wanted AoA. It's brand new so not run down yet. Of course POP is in the running as well but Kya doesn't like the theming there as much. She thinks it's cool but not Disney enough (she may feel this way about POR as well as).
  4. A discounted family suite at AoA isn't really in the running either. We don't need the space and it's way more expensive than any of the options. Plus the Cars and Lion King theme isn't as appealing to us. I only included it because I thought someone might wonder why I hadn't.
I still have to show Kya pics of the resorts and look at food court menus and reviews and would LOVE some input here! :chat:

Hi Hope! Geez, that's too bad about the discounts.

I don't know if I have any advice for you, it's such a personal thing. I think if it were me I'd go for the moderate for a little more but I can't argue at all with saving the money and going with ASMovies. I have a friend who stayed there recently and she really liked it.

If DD was really disappointed about the AOA suites would doing POR with boat to DTD help ease the pain a little. :confused3

It really is difficult to know what other people will like, I totally get that! It's good to know your friend had a good experience though- that eases some of my anxiety here! :goodvibes

I think the boat would be the main draw of POR. I'm really anxious to talk to her about our options and get an ide about what she's thinking but won't have time until late tonight or tomorrow. Stupid work. :crazy2:
