No Grumpy Guses Allowed! Updated 5/15- We have plane tickets!

If Kya is wanting theming, she's not going to be happy with a mod. They are far less in-your-face-Disney and it sounds like that's what she prefers. Our favorite is Pop, but I think you should try Movies!

I wish I had thought about it when you said you were staying in LM section...they NEVER have offered a discount of any kind for LM section, since the day it opened.

That's rough! I wonder why the discount doesn't work at AoA LM rooms...?

I'd say if Kya wants the Disney themed rooms ASMovies is the way to go. The Mods are lovely but they don't have the Disney themes so BIG as the Values. I don't know what the cost difference is but what about WL? I hear such amazing things about that resort from SO many people... Maybe MORE options isn't good advice!:teeth:

I know they don't do discounts but it just never occurred to me they wouldn't do TA rates. I guess we're not so special after all. :scratchin:rotfl:

I'm not sure Kya will want POP because the theming isn't specificlly Disney so I'm definitely leaning toward Movies, just have to talk to her about it! :hyper2:

WL is beautiful but, like the mods, it's more subtle. And even with a TA rate deluxe isn't in the budget (one of these days though).

:thanks:You guys have all made me feel better about ASMovies. :disrocks:

I think it's what Kya will want and I was just feeling meh about it. The food court and buses won't be as good as they would be at AoA but I'm not sure that's worth doubling the cost of our room. Just have to see what Kya's thinking. :thumbsup2

BTW- I just updated my ticker and it's all the way back to the beginning! :headache: I guess our old tickers weren't working with the board update. :confused3

Well, I finally got to talk to Kya about the resort change...

We poured over pictures of ASMovies, Pop, and POR. She pretty much dismissed POR out of hand for not being "Disney" enough, no big surprise there (the ONLY reason I had it as an option was location).

Movies and Pop were pretty evenly ranked. She loved the Toy Story and 101 Dalmatians elements of Movies but the retro theming mixed with classic Disney at Pop was fun. She was having a hard time choosing so I suggested we look at food court menus. I have to admit that I knew which way this was going to tip the scales when I suggested it. :rolleyes1

Yep, she chose POP! :yay:
I was letting her choose and didn't think she'd want Pop but I wanted it! The rooms are more recently updated, the food court is better, and the bus situation is better than Movies. So, as soon as my CLIA card arrives (I have to fax a copy to Disney within 48 hours of booking) I'll be booking a preferred room at Pop! If I'm being completely honest I'm still a little disappointed about AoA but it's DISNEY so it will be magical no matter where we stay. And I'm pretty excited about that tie dye cheesecake. pixiedust::daisy::hippie:

That's where me & my girl are staying when we go too- she picked it! Well ,first she went and picked Grand Floridian & I'm like.. uh NO. Try again. And that was her second choice. That works for me! :thumbsup2

Sounds like she's pretty set, but another 'more Disney' option at the mods would be those princess rooms (or royalty or whatever they are called) at Riverside. I have had a friend stay there who loved them.

I am excited to try the tie dye cheesecake at Pop too! Mmmmmm!

The princess rooms do look fantastic but for some reason only the pirate rooms are offered at TA rates. :confused3 Oh well, I'm starting to get excited about Pop! :hyper:

POP is so close to AoA that you can walk over and check out the theming and eat in the food court. It was really easy to do.

Yay!!! Savannah will be so excited for Kya that she's staying at her favorite! From what I've heard, it's a bit better than the other values for a few things...but I wouldn't know since it's the only place Savannah ever wants to stay! :p

I'm so glad Kya is cool with POP; never stayed there, but I've heard great things on the DIS.

And as a pp said there's a bridge that connects to AoA from POP. I've seen on a couple of reports that it's a quick walk over.

I'm so glad things are coming together for you girls! :dancer:

Yep, from everything I've heard it's better than the AS resorts. And since I HAVE stayed in one I'll let ya know. :thumbsup2

:thanks: I think we may have to make time to explore AoA. :goodvibes

So... Not an official update because I won't make a decision until I see what our vacation budget looks like after our trip to DC but I'm considering adding a night to our trip. Ever since I decided to add the extra day at MK everything feels rushed. We are pretty laid back on a day to day basis and my vacation philosophy is firmly, "Wherever you go, there you are." In other words, if we don't like feeling rushed at home we won't like it just because we're at Disney. :confused3

So, plans as they stand right now...

Monday November 9:

Tuesday November 10:
  • Sleep in after late party
  • Late breakfast at 1900PF
  • Monorail resort hopping
  • MK
  • early dinner at BOG
Wednesday November 11:
  • DHS- rope drop
  • Lunch at Sci-Fi
  • Stay long enough to see Osbourn Lights
  • Head to DTD for dinner at RFC and shopping
Thursday November 12:
  • EPCOT- rope drop- we have the entire day at this park. :)
Friday November 13:
  • Travel home

It has us squeezing the party into our arrival day, resort hopping to see Christmas decor into our MK day and DTD into our full day at DHS. :confused3

If we add a day our schedule will look something like this (subject to change after I look at crowd calendars)...

Sunday November 8:

  • Arrival day
  • Head to DTD after we get settled for shopping and dinner at RFC
Monday November 9:
  • MK- this will probably be a party day so we'll have to leave to leave by 7:00
  • Dinner at BOG
  • since we have to leave MK early we'll have some time to explore POP and AoA
Tuesday Nov 10/ Wednesday Nov 11:
  • DHS and EPCOT- maybe some time at the Biardwalk on our DHS day
Thursday November 12:
  • Breakfast at 1900PF
  • Monorail Resort hopping to see Christmas decor
  • MVMCP
Friday November 13:
  • Travel home
So, much more laid back... Thoughts?

Here is a picture of the bridge between POP and Art of Animation. I took it from the 3rd floor of our POP building. I can't remember which building we were in but it was the closest to the bridge.

I think either of those plans look like a LOT of time! When Savannah & I took our trip we only had 3 nights and we still fit a TON in. Remember, you will get much more done with just two people, I swear each person you add to a trip adds hours and hours of time. I also only had 3 nights with Rey and it didn't feel rushed at all and we went to all the parks on both of those trips! :)

Oh, WOW, that is close! Thanks for sharing! I think we'll definitely have to find some time to check that out! :flower1:

Good point! I'm most concerned about making sure we have time to explore DTD and the resort Christmas decor. And I'm not as concerned with *me* feeling rushed as I am with *Kya* feeling rushed. I know myself well enough to know that if she starts to act like she's not getting enough downtime or is tired it's my stuff that will get sacrificed first. Which is fine but if it can be avoided why not? I'm going to look at my actually itinerary a bit more (and the budget) before I decide. :thumbsup2

Congrats for choosing a resort! I'm sorry it wasn't your first choice but it sounds like you're both happy with the alternative. :goodvibes

I'm all for more time at Disney! When I first read your potential schedule I thought you were going to do Epcot and HS in one day. I'm glad I went back and re-read it. I really like the itinerary, much more laid back.

Oh, I TOTALLY meant to explain that it would depend on crowd calendars which went on which day but then I got rushed and accidentally left it out. :rolleyes1

We are both happy with Pop now and AoA will always be there for another trip. :thumbsup2

I'm editing shots from UO today and I DARE YOU not to add a day for Diagon Alley when you see these pics!
