No Go for Disney Dollars with Visa Rewards :(

DD and I stopped in DTD on our way to San Diego. WOD, DLH Fantasia Shop, GCH and DL Guest Services would not let us purchase Disney Dollars with our Visa Rewards Card The CM in Guest Services was surprised when he was told no he could not sell us the Disney Dollars. Every other CM said Disney Dollars had to be purchased with cash or credit card!!! We easily purchased Disney Dollars in Star Traders on one of our trips using our Visa Rewards Card. The supervisor in WOD said the the Rewards Card is like a gift card and can't be used for DDollars. Has this happenend to anyone else recently??? We wanted to use DDollars to pay for our lunch at ESPN as they don't accept the Rewards Card!.

It make sense since Disney Dollars can be traded for cash. That means the rewards could just be redeemed for cash to be used outside of Disney!

All the restaurants in downtown disney accept disney dollars, but they do not accept the rewards card for payment. Bummer about them not letting you purchase them, I know they will at the disney stores in the mall though, probably aren't supposed to, but they do!

No the restaurants will only accept the disney dollars, as they have no way of processing the gift cards or reward cards. They can turn the dollars into disney and get cash for those, so that's why they accept the dollars. The only places in downtown disney that take the gift card other than the resorts are Marcelines Confectionary and the World of Disney store.
