OK, the Unofficial Guide lists June 1 to 7 as "Gay Days" in Orlando. They say that it is not limited to WDW, but that this group is also planning activities at Universal and Sea World.

Does anyone know the schedule for Gay Days? And no, I am not a homophobe, but I am a crowd-aphobe. I just want to plan some park days that may be less crowded, regardless of what group plans to be there.

Thanks!!

check the websites for the official schedules. www.gayday.com and www.gaydays.com Each site has a different schedule so be sure and look at both. Don't know why there are two sites.

There's a DISer who also goes to Gay Days...he said he guessed he's be wearing both red and lime green....can't wait to see him in that outfit!!!

Sorry, but I had to laugh when I saw "flames" in the same sentence as "Gay Days" LOLOL!!!

All I can tell you is...stay away from the MK on that Saturday! I heard people say the crowd was SO huge last year, they closed the park at 10am because they reached capacity. Since EPCOT is larger, I would think it would be easier to get around with the crowds.

:rotfl: Same here. My eyesight's not the best, so for a second there I thought I saw an "r."
I really like the quote in your signature. Y'all make a cute couple.
Edited to Add: I've been censored by kilee. Probably a good thing. To anyone who read the removed sentence, I'm sorry. It was written in jest. It may have been in poor taste, but it was by no means a reflection of my true feelings toward RickinNYC and his partner and I had hoped that was obvious with the :teeth: at the end of the sentence. Obviously, I was wrong. I really do like Mother Teresa's quote and wish more people spent less time judging people, but then that sounds sort of like judging people. :teeth:

RickinNY - Too funny.

Nice quote, too. Actually, I keep a little collection of quotes and I'm looking for one that I read years ago but never got to write down properly in my collection. Perhaps you know it and the source. It's by a former military guy, and goes something along the lines of, I was given a medal for killing a man, and a dishonorable discharge for loving one. If you have the wording on that can you post it or pm me. Thanks!

It's definitely good to know the schedule. We went during Gay Days the last couple of years because the customing club I'm in was marching for the parade for Star Wars Weekends...so we had large groups for SWW and for GD. It was unbelievably crowded. While we still really enjoyed ourselves, not knowing the schedule ahead of time really caused us to feel like sardines packed and squished. Last year we did it better and knew the schedule and was able to plan our trip accordingly. It was still crowded, but not as much so when we did different parks on days different from their schedule. The event itself didn't bother me...it was the sheer number of people. Now I understand why we don't go during spring breaks times. LOL As much as I loved marching in the SWW parades, I don't think I'd go during that time again. It was way too crowded for me and I get kind of claustrophobic that way...I tend to get jittery without enough space.

As stated before, this is NOT a phobic comments just that when I went several times in a row the first week of June and it being GDays at the same time I just won't go anymore during this time of year.....it is just too too too darn crowded all over Orlando with this event.

A few too many things flaming in this thread? Pishaw! :teeth:

We have been at WDW twice during the Gay Days timeframe in the past. On last years day for the Magic Kingdom my wife went there first thing in the morning for some pastries from the Main Street bakery and she said it was mobbed ! However, my daughter decided later that afternoon that she wanted to do MK, so off we went.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that there were still alot of fast-passes available, and the line waits didn't seem to be any longer than during any other day we experienced during our trip. We so NO behavior that we would have felt necessary to explain to our 11 y/o daughter. Just saw a lot of red t-shirts.

One really cute one, though. On a red tshirt : "I see RED people !"

If you are worried about crowds, try another park. If you are worried about anything else - don't worry.

I think that was me! hehe I have my red t-shirt ready... it is the lime green I am working on, can't decide between lime green shorts, socks, maybe an athletic wristband, a festive beret... lime green contacts??? so many choices!

Cool it is not during my families vacation this year. I am not against them it is just interesting explaining to the 7 year old of the couple that is going with us.

I never understand comments like the one above. We have gone twice during this week- DD was 5 on our first trip and 8 last June. She didn't question anything but then she already knows that not every family is just like hers.

I would think that it would be a good time for a discussion on the diversity in the world and the need to be accepting of people who are not "just like us."

The crowds were manageable and I wouldn't hesitate to visit this week in the future.

Does anyone know the schedule for Gay Days?

The above is the topic at hand.

While I am all for expression of different viewpoints, I won't tolerate this thread turning into a debate about whether kids should or should not see gay couples.

If you want to discuss that, please feel free to open a thread on the community board, but it's not on-topic for the theme park attractions and strategies board.

Thanks! :teeth:
