Hi Folks,
We ate at Chef de France on 8/21 and just want to report that no filet or any other steak is on on the menu. They said that they changed the menu before free dining started.

Here is my dilemma... I have one adult in our party who is a VERY picky eater. He will be eating steak everywhere we go because he won't branch out and try anything else! I have reservations on a Sat. night for Chefs de France, but now I am afraid to go. I notice that they have rotisseree chicken and beef short ribs on the menu, are these pretty good? I think he would eat them if we asked for no extra sauces or anything wierd on them. Any thoughts?

Or just try and find another place to eat (which may be a problem this late in the game on a Sat. night). Big River Grill? I was hoping to try the french place :-(

The short ribs there are awesome, but they're braised in red wine. Don't know if he'll find that "weird". Is he into burgers? They serve a good one there as well.

When the steak wasn't on the menu, I had the chicken. It was ok....it's chicken...nothing exciting but safe for non fish eaters.

The Disney Chefs will work with Guests to prepare food in a manner they will eat. If your dining companion will eat a plain chicken breast and they have chicken breasts, they will make him a plain one.

the menu on allearsnet just got updated to august and still shows the filet, which is weird cuz their menus are pretty accurate, wonder where they got the august update cuz all of the reports on here confirm otherwise. Now im not sure that the other options on that menu will be there as well. We leave in 7 days so i guess we will see, theres about a handful of things id try on that menu and i was never planning for the filet so i guess we will be surprised..lol

Allears gets most of its menus from readers who visit Disney, either request menus or (in the case of counter service) take pictures of the menus) and send them in.
It's likely that whoever sent them the CDF menu got it just before the menu changed.

WDWinfo.com (the DIS home site) has webmasters who live in the Orlando area and can get to the restaurants more frequently. If a menu here is dated the same month as a menu there, I'd trust this one (and if wdwinfo's menu is newer, obviously it's more likely to be accurate :))

Did a manager say this to you,or was it just your waiter(Don't mean to cast waiters in a derogatory light,BTW!)?

Oh this can't be...We've been told on other threads that the DDP NEVER affects what Disney restaurants offer.:rotfl:

DH is also a somewhat picky eater (doesn't like a lot of sauces, etc) and he loved the rotisseree chicken at Chefs de France. It is pretty much just plain rotisseree chicken and a good option for a very picky eater.

And a few hundred years ago we were told the earth is flat.

1) Next, you'll tell us that
. . . there is no Santa Claus, and
. . . that Mickey Mouse is just a girl in a suit.

2) The DDP has, in fact influenced changes on/in menus.
. . . several restaurants have permanently dropped unique menu items
. . . many menu items have been altered or "dumbed down"
. . . during Free DDP, some menu items are temporarily dropped

Seems like they rook you into free dining with higher rack rates and then take away good menu items and replace them with less expensive choices? So what is the reasoning behind the DDP? It looks like a lot of food to me and also a lot of work to keep track of those credits.
