Will be at Hollywood Studios in April. I secured 3 fast passes a day for my family for the week for every park.
With Smuggler's Run being so popular, it was unavailable on the day we will be at HS.
What is a strategy to getting on this ride without a fastpass? Our first fastpass of the day will be at 11am. So we do have the morning to try to get on it.
Will it be swamped immediately?

EDIT:
I can't seem to reply to anyone's post. New here, obviously. System won't let me. Says I'm spamming? Huh?
Anyway, I just was able to switch Toy Story Mania to Smuggler's Run ! So lucky! Slinky Dog also became available, but we have Star Tours, Smuggler's Run and Aerosmith booked. I think they are all hard to get, correct? MIght have to save Slinky Dog for later that day/evening. Yippee!

Not sure how this will work with FPs being available but DS and I used the "dual" rider line. The thing is the line is not always open. With FPs I'm betting that standby and dual rider lines will be longer...

It is likely Smugglers Run will be busy in the mornings since everybody has to be there so early to get boarding passes for Rise of the Resistance. I’ve seen people say that there is a single rider line, but you are less likely to get the desired position in the cockpit if you use it. Also it sounds like the lines for it get shorter through the day. And the absolute failsafe way to make sure you get to ride is to get in the stand by line just prior to close. Once Fastpass lines are gone, the standby lines move much quicker and my experience has been that none of the lines are half as long as what’s posted at the end of the night.

Also, keep trying to get the FP, just try to change your other tier one, until you hit the final button to change it, it won't hurt anything to try. FPs pop up all the time with people changing their plans along.

Oh, man. I didn't even know about the Rise of the Resistance! How did this get past me? Can you please tell me what you mean by boarding passes? I am assuming there is no "signup" to ride this? Appreciate your advice to try at the end of the night.

Ok. So I just read a little bit about it and saw that you stand in line to get a boarding pass. And there is a "virtual queue" you can use with app. All correct?

You need to try to be in the parks at least 30 minutes prior to the posted opening. At exactly opening time, everyone can get on the MDE app and get a boarding pass number. I think currently it tells you what time to come back to ride. They have changed how it works several times already so if your trip is several months out, keep checking back to stay current with the process. Boarding passes run out quickly within the first hour or so of park opening, and you can’t use DAS or Anytime Fastpasses Or get in a standby line if you miss getting a boarding pass.

I've found the best strategy to get on the popular rides without a fast pass is to get in line right before park closing. Wait times are usually inflated. Even if they're not, at least this way you're not wasting park time waiting in a long line.

There is a whole FAQ and thread about BP in the Galaxys Edge section

For ROR they use a Virtual Que so what you have to do is have your entire group in the park before park opening. That is through the tap in area. Then on your my disney app you have the ability to join a boarding group. There is no line to stand in, you do it on your phone. At the second the park opens the button on the app will turn color and allow you to join a Boarding Group. Once you secure that they will tell you when your group can come get on the ROR. It is a 1 - 2 hour window. The key is at the time it becomes available you have to immediately join a boarding group. I recommend reading all the primers on it as you cannot delay. All boarding groups for a day can be gone in a minute.

For MFSR the best time to ride is in the last 2 hours of the day. From our experience in January GE empties out at the end of the day with fireworks and Fantasmic crowds leaving the area. So the wait time will drop by allot and you can get multiple rides in. That is if you can wait til days end. If not the line moves quickly at least without FP+ in the mix it did.

You might want to check now as people are dropping other Tier 1 and grabbing MMRR.
