No early Aug. free DDP = FREE COUNSELING

WDW will be offering free counseling for those of us who will not receive free dining for our early Aug. vacations...

In keeping with the trends of society, free counseling will be offered every morning while on property.....Just see a cast member at the front desk.

This will help you cope with the trauma of "NO FREE DINING FOR YOU"!!

We check in on 8-21 and check out on the 28th so just knowing that most everybody around me at dinner and lunch time starting on the 26th will be eating for free is so upsetting! We were lucky enough to have it free the past 2 years and will be paying for it this year! I have ran the numbers to see if I could afford to go again in September with my parents...I found air thru Airtran for 138.00 round trip and my dad will go for sure...not so sure what mom will say!! I think just knowing what a great deal it is and not being able to take advantage of it is what's really bugging me! I am happy for all those who it did work for though...I remember the feeling well!!

I also need councelling NOW! We have really enjoyed free dining the last 2 years. This year we are going with a very large, extended family group of 19. To pay for the plan only appeals to some, and we really won't be able to enjoy the great meals knowing that some in our group are not included. We have decided to skip the dining plan this summer. It's almost killing me, but I know that by Aug, I will be over it, and will enjoy the trip. (Thank goodness for the 4 month wait.)

I am thinking the same thing. I believe that some kind of discount will happen, we just need to be patient.

I too am holding out for a different August code, we booked 2 packages, Aug. 20th - 26th with no free dining, then the 26th - 30th with free dining. I really would like to save more money, so any other discounts would be great!

Will the counseling also focus on "Disney is corporation. Corporations are NOT human and therefore cannot love you or hate you. Disney did NOT fail to offer you free dining as a personal attack." ?


I am continually amazed at the resentment and stuff that appears when discounts aren't offered. Disney does NOT offer a "frequent sleeper" club. (If you want that type of loyalty program I suggest Marriott. I like thier's a lot!) Disney is in this to make money (which is actually in our best interst, research Disney of the Early 70's and see what you got when they didn't make money!) They offer discounts if they need to sell rooms, not to make the DISboards happy or unhappy!

All guests on a single reservation have to purchase dining (or none) but there isn't any reason why some of your group can't purchase dining. I assume you're on different reservations. Those guests who don't purchase dining will just have to pay out of pocket for their meals. Are you planning on skipping TS meals?

Disney offers discounts to sell rooms during slow periods. Since when is the summer a slow season for Disney? Particularly now that the southern schools are going back in session later in August.

Those guests who booked "on spec" are partially responsible for Disney deciding they don't need to offer free dining in early August.

We almost always go in August. But not the very end because I have to go back to work the last week in August. Last year Free Dining!! That was great. This year we will arrive the 27th of July due to DSIL who is in the military and his class ends then in Ga. Sooooo it looks like no discounts for us! Not even the lower off season rate that will be offered 8-5. And to make matters worse I was so looking forward to the Pirates and Princess party and it won't start till 8-11.

On the bright side: We are going to Disney! And there is always next year to look forward to!!!

You are right!!!!Did you a big favor.....Now you dont have to stare at the menu and look for the most expensive meals....just go cheap early....no stress.......now you dont have to haul all that extra stuff back with you!!!!
