No DVC free parking

Maybe you should just sell and then you won’t have to worry about it any more.
We never had our room cleaned for a less than 8 (?) day DVC stay. It’s a timeshare. You sweep and vacuum yourself if needed and make your own bed. You can wash your towels for free in your inroom laundry (one bedroom) or for free in the resort laundry room. They do come and replenish towels and stuff on the fourth day. This used to appear on your resort reservation....I haven’t checked in a while.
Some resorts have removed the vacuums and you have to ask for them. I think they were worried about germs from a previous occupant being on the handle or something, who knows.
Although there are lots of complaints lately about people not getting their trash taken out daily like they had been doing previously but that is mostly due to staff shortages and lots of new employees.

General rule is parking is an appurtenance and Florida law won’t let them charge for it. DVC has 3 essential rules on parking:

1. first come first serve - you aren’t guaranteed a spot just the opportunity for one.

2. or, they can choose to create numbered parking and assign you a specific spot for your room. (I believe the tree house rooms are the only place that does this).

3. they can set aside some space for things like valet parking.

And DVC won’t be charging for parking at the parks anytime soon. The parking real estate at the resorts is more valuable than at the parks where they have plenty of capacity. The LAST thing WDW wants is DVC hogging all the resort spots all day every day because it costs to park at the parks.

So the way contracts are read is to read between the commas

your exert doesn’t help your argument of never I’m afraid. it does however confirm my worst fear

“provided, however, that worldco or the owner of such parking areas shall have the right to limit the owners blah blah, parking rights to designated area”

so yeah dvc can at their own will stop us from parking

I don't understand what you are saying. Of course they can tell you where to park in a parking lot. I guess you're saying they could just run an empty parking lot that we pay dues for and designate no spots?

I think we can all thank Uber/Lyft/etc. for the demise of ME. I am not sure why FP+ was removed. I think G+ and LL are not only an expense but are also harder to use because they are closer to the paper FP procedure. IMO Chepak, et al, are testing boundaries and so far it hasn't made a significant difference. If the reduced perks and high prices remove a certain percentage of guests then that also may be their focus.

If you buy your first property as a DVC resale today, you can't even get a DVC membership card anymore. Not a blue, not a white. Isn't this forcing people who own DVC to pay for parking?

EDIT: Am I correct about this? Or did I read something about the digital cards instead of getting no card. If, say, I buy my first ever DVC and it's 100 points resale, does Disney give me a DVC white card?

No one - blue or white card - can get a new card anymore as it's going digital. They know when a room reservation is made with DVC points and you don't show a membership card when checking in; so there's no reason for them to charge for parking because you don't have a card.

No, because the parking is tied the reservation, not the person

You get free overnight parking when staying on points reservation or a cash one booked via MS.

No, they are issuing digital cards now. Anyway, you never had to show your card for parking to begin with. The parking is tied to the reservation, so anyone staying on points (direct, resale, rental) still enjoys "free" parking. It's paid for in our MF's.

Thank you, Don, Sandi and LadyBugs for the quick responses! :)

Everything is so confusing for newbies to DVC - even after I've read the boards here for months.

Free parking is an appurtenance legally available to you, your guests, and your tenants. If someone is staying on your points, they are entitled to use the parking lot, subject to availability.

That’s the law. So. They can’t ask for a membership card because everybody you could authorize to stay on your points (anybody you so choose) wouldn’t necessarily have one.

This is also one of the reasons why DVC can’t ban renting reservation. If you own a deeded real estate interest, and you do, that comes with certain rights. Use of the facilities, freedom to create a tenant relationship. If you can’t do these things, it’s not really real estate.

You should probably notice how long some people have been here vs how long you've been here, and recognize that maybe the long-term people here know more.
Rude, thanks for playing.

is this how we expect people to treat one another?

A major perk of owning dvc is the free Disney and resort parking, it was a major consideration for me when buying. Without that perk I may not have purchased to be honest as I exclusively drive my car to Disney

fast forward to the future

magical express no longer exists

mears connect is stupid expensive. Express is $250

what would happen to dvc if Disney removed the parking perk? unimaginable right?! I sure hope this is just a nightmare hypothetical but it could happen too.

food costs more, tickets cost more, our dvc perks are stripped bare. those who fly are faced with crazy high airfare exasperated by no magical express thereby forcing Disney guests to opt for a rental car, mears connect or Uber all which are even more expensive than ever. The cost to go to Disney is crazy right now and I maintain my costs by driving

dvc getting rid of parking though would be the final straw for me I think
I hope they don’t get rid of the free parking. We also drive. But the magical express is up and running again! Or it was last month!
