No DVC Annual Pass Discount for Florida Residents

Last night we went to renew our annual passes and because we are Florida residents, we cannot get the DVC discount on them. We were told that this only applies to those who are out of state. That since Florida residents already get a discount you cannot use the DVC membership discounts. We were not told this when we purchased into the DVC. Actually this is one big reason why we got the membership and actually asked our sales associate numerous times if the discount would apply to us and his response was yes all times. Very disappointed and feeling a bit ripped off.

On a good note, we ate at Noma last night for dinner, their specialty was sweet and spicy ribs and they were fantastic. Also the waitress we had said even though they do not offer a discount at the restaurant at this time, she heard they might be offering DVC members a discount in the near future. That would be great since it is our favorite place to eat right now. It cannot take the place of the annual pass discount but if it happens it will be nice.

The only restriction I know of is that you can not use the two discounts together. If you have seasonal passes then the Florida discount is the only one offered.

When we bought out AP's after moving to Florida, the Florida resident AP was a better deal then purchasing with the DVC discount (which we used when we lived in NH). You just can't combine the 2, although that would be awesome!

Actually, the DVC & FL Resident pricing on Annual Passes is not a discount. Each are a unique class of ticket with their own retail price. All though every one refers to the price difference as a discount, it's actually just a price difference.

It sounds like you misunderstood several things.

First of all, obviously you were thinking you could stack your DVC discount on top of the Florida resident discount. That's not correct at all -- never has been, never will be. In fact, I think erionm's explanation above is really more accruate than the idea of "discounts."

Secondly -- and much more important -- you seem to think that the special DVC price for AP's is somehow guaranteed. It's NOT. If you considered the DVC discount as a factor in making your purchase, you made a mistake.

In fact, the DVC AP has only been around a few years -- only about 5 years IIRC. Prior to that, there was no special price for DVC.

Disney could easily discontinue that preferential pricing at any time and probably will someday.

As other have stated they are not really discounts but a specially priced ticket and the FL resident AP is about $5 cheaper. Also you can but a TiW card for $75 as a AP holder and get 20% off meals at many places. With out an AP FL residents are the only other group authorized to purchase the TiW and it is $100.

I think this has been pretty much summed up by previous posters. You CAN go with the DVC AP...but it will cost you more than the florida resident price, so there is no reason to do it. But, if one day they raise Florida resident prices above the DVC price, you can use it instead.

Florida seasonal passes are a really great deal...much cheaper that APs, even with Florida or DVC discount. Yes, certain times are blocked out, but those are crowded times to avoid if possible!

The seasonal florida resident pass is the one with the black outs. It is the blacked out at the most busy times for WDW. I would not want to be there during these times anyways.

I do however wish it was extended just bit more into June for SWW.
