No Disney this year!

In truth, I despise the 99% phrase. Just like Main Street verse Wall Street, It's completely divisive and is not what this country needs. My point really was more to criticize Disney and the ABC Network, because in many ways they're news organization is extremely biased, divisive and one sided. Yes, affording Disney in MANY CASES, has much more to do with financial discipline and priorities, then economic circumstances.

Not a fan of the phrase either, just quoting you, but yes, if you (not you specifically) want to be able to go to Disney (or take any type of vacation) just plan appropriately. I see people all the time with huge houses, super fancy cars, but can't afford to go out to dinner, and god forbid something go wrong with the house or car, or medical bill or anything that costs a lot...because they panic not being able to afford it because there is no savings. :confused3

People love to live above their means, we just choose know our limits. :goodvibes

The OP simply stated that she chose to take her money elsewhere this year.

And when you chose to do something else where your dollar goes a little farther that is good money managment too.

I'm on a extremely tight budget and when I go I budget it. And I pass up things because they simply cost too much. I know what I can spend and what I cannot.

Please don't be offended I don't wish to offend anybody.

I totally understand the view of the OP, but it was more about value then cost. As with purchases and expenses there are always the cheaper alternatives, but you also need to consider the relative value. For example yes other similar vacation spots and parks are cheaper then WDW but does the experience provide the same value? And I have spent much less on family trips going to other locations for much less cost so I understand the approach and issue of the expense of WDW, but what you experience and the value are also different.

This seems to assume that one is looking.to have the same experience, just at a cheaper place. IMO, that is setting yourself up for disappointment from the start.

I enjoy BGW. Is it WDW? No, but I don't expect it to be. It is an entirely different, but not lesser, experience. We have had a lot of fun at BGW, and I look forward to bringing my nephews there now that they are getting.old enough/tall enough. I still look forward to going with them to Disney again too. Different doesn't equal lesser...nor does cheaper equal lesser. :confused3

Since this thread is about posting things which have absolutely no effect on the rest of us other than to complain or announce things....

I am going to have pizza for lunch.

I am not going to have a cookie though even though I would like to.

Edit: I am referring to the original post. I have not read all of the replies.

I think I'm going to use your strategy on all the threads announcing the arrival of someone's Elsa/Anna dress! Thanks for the tip! ;)

I really do find it amusing how bent out of shape people get when someone decides not to go to Disney.

I find it amusing that people feel the need to tell us they will never go to Disney again on a Disney planning site.

Do you want me to pay for you to go or to convince you that you are wrong? I really do not care. Do you expect me to say, "Wow, X is canceling so I too should cancel!

Don't feel it is worth it then don't go.

If that came out of the blue, I might agree to you. But the parks are going through a major policy shift that is affecting a lot of vacations. I see it as very relevant to the conversation.

But its relevant right now, the parks are changing!
FP+ has caused a lot of grief many line build ups, to be honest I'm going this summer but ONLY because I had already booked my flights! And the kids want to go,
However out of my 3wk trip that I normally spend all on site at Disney! We are now doing Universal for a wk staying at universal plus we're adding in seaworld and legoland!

I know disney is busy in summer but with all the changes I'm not even excited a little about the up coming trip,
I see us spending way more time in the pools at SSR and the water parks and only visiting the parks for a few hours a day!
And this coming from somebody who has done 3wks in November using FP+ so it's not like I'm doing this without experiencing it 1st.

I also think many hope Disney are reading these posts and seeing that repeat customers are not happy!

Many people planning trips are always glad to hear the news that someone isn't going to Disney and enthusiastically reply that they are glad to hear that they will have more room in the park themselves. :crowded:

How come every time someone says they canceled a trip it turns into "will never go to Disney again?"

I actually thoroughly disagree with this. A ride closure? Yes, that would effect me. Someone who has taken a dozen Disney vacations having a tantrum about voluntarily changing vacation plans? Does not effect me.

The way they distribute fast passes is changing. No, scratch that, it already has changed. If people don't like it, then that's too bad and I understand why they'd take their business elsewhere. But I find the level of entitlement absolutely overwhelming. If you don't like heights, don't go skydiving. If you get seasick, don't take a cruise. If you're scared of bears, don't go camping. But don't get angry at the plane, the boat and the animals. If you don't want to wait in lines, don't go to a theme park. Or go to a theme park that more closely matches your goals. Which is what the OP stated, but I fail to see why one person's apparently staggeringly difficult decision to drive to a different place to ride a roller coaster and eat hot dogs has any effect or impact on anyone else's vacation.

Let's be friends. I think we would get along splendidly!!!

Except using that same logic this board would have about 2/3 less threads (which may be a good thing, less of a time muncher). I don't need to know about other people's ADR choices, or their touring plan, or a million other subjects that aren't relevant to other people (except that we apparently all like to comment on things that don't directly affect us).

I think the only "objection" I have to this thread is that OP posted almost word for word the same post a few weeks ago. Venting and maybe even secretly hoping that someone will talk you out of leaving....well, that's one of those posts that happen often, not fun to read someone voicing the things maybe I don't want to think about....but to repeat it hoping for either different responses (more sympathetic perhaps) or worse, hoping to incite anger like a troll would do, well, that personally annoys me.

Now I fully expect a half dozen to agree with me.....and another dozen to tell me I'm being insensitive or rude or I don't understand or something. :rotfl2:

One of the nice things about DIS is that it's full of a variety of people.....and they love Disney as much as I do, and therefore might understand the obsessing over minor and major details, certainly more than my non-Disney loving husband, lol.
