I realise that this will be shocking to most all of you and will probably get me kicked off of the DIS but we’re off to Orlando in August and WE’RE NOT GOING TO A DISNEY PARK!!!!!!!!

We had something of an epiphany last year when towards the end of our holiday, we took DD to Epcot to meet up and spend the day with her Californian friend (who she met the previous year on DCL). When they went off DH and I stood in front of Spaceship Earth, looked at each other and both said “What should we do now?!”. :confused3 We took a turn on Test Track, line was too long for Soarin’ without a fast pass and neither DH nor I felt the need to experience Mission Space again so we stopped by the Rose & Crown for a pint, had a cruise on the Friendship Boat to MGM and caught the resort bus back to POP where we spend the rest of the afternoon at Petals Pool Bar! :drinking1 It had finally happened – we’d been Disney’d out! Inevitable really after at least one trip a year for the past 20 years!

So this year, there will be no Disney parks for us although the Mouse will still get some of our holiday dollars – can’t go cold turkey completely! :figment: Here’s how it pans out

3 nts HRH for 2 full days and 2 half days of USO/IOA with the stupendous FOTL!
7 nts Villa for Seaworld, Busch Gardens, shopping and lazing
2 nts YC for SAB, Fantasia Gardens, DTD and Cirque du Soleil

Wish us luck !

I hope you recover from this illness soon and I REALLY hope that it isn't contageous ;)

I am sorry that you are very sick and hope you get better soon! I understand the feeling of wanting to so something else though. I have wanted to go to the beach everytime we were in Florida and did not have the opportunity. Oh well, once I walk through those Magic Kingdom gates I forget about the beach!!

:sunny:

Hi there Diane  Long time no see :)

Im sure you will still have a ball whatever you do, You never know you may get there and find you just cant resist, good luck anyway my friend, enjoy :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Please keep away from me until whatever you have got,you get rid of. ;)

Seriously,it might just be what you need and be completley ready for parks on your next trip. :teeth:

Have a great time whatever you do. :thumbsup2

Good for you! We suffered from a nasty dose of "All Disney'd Out" after our 5th visit and only did Universal (which we prefer anyway, but don't tell the Disney addicts ;) ).

Last time we mainly did Universal, but through in a few afternoons or mornings in the Disney parks.

Enjoy your trip, wherever you go :wizard:

We had 2 two week holidays last year and said the same only about Universal, we stood and looked around and both agreed we wouldn't be doing Universal or IOA the next time hence we decided to stay onsite this year as we can get to Sea World easy without a car. I must admit I can't say I feel the same about Disney as there is a lot more to do and see. It will be interesting after this holiday to see if we feel the same about Disney, I am concerned that it will be too much staying onsite and that we will be pulling our hair out by the end of the two weeks.

If you could bottle that you`d make a fortune - just think how many reluctant partners would like to give someone a dose of that!
I wonder when you get there you`ll be able to resist :teeth: Mind you, you have such great plans - enjoy!

I hardly dare say it, but for the 2nd time in 3 trips, we won't be going to WDW in August either. It's quite a relief to finally admit to it!!
We will go back again in the future, but we've found so many other great places to go and things to do in Florida that we're heading out of Orlando again for most of our trip. We'll still be going to Universal and Sea World first though!

I'm sure you'll still have a ball, but having not yet visited WDW there is no way any of my family are getting near any comments about being Disneyed out :scared1:

You go for it :teeth:

I'm not Disneyed out yet myself though ;)

I've said several times on these boards that I can't imagine visiting Orlando (we've been going since 1992) and not doing all four Disney parks. However, during our most recent trip in January, I had a similar epiphany. In hindsight, it's probably been building for a while. Having Annual Passes has enabled us to dip in and out of the parks and, for several trips now, we've probably spent less and less time at the parks (although we still spend quite a bit of time on WDW property). The 'go with the flow' nature of APs even saw us missing MK altogether in January 2004 and, even more shocking, not getting stressed about it!

In January, I felt increasingly that I could enjoy Orlando without WDW. Having said that, I also think it's unlikely that I would visit Orlando without doing any Disney at all. Just a lot less. In fact, I've been thinking about this so much since we got back that we're planning a trip next March to Key West, the Everglades and the Gulf Coast. No Orlando! No WDW! I think I always knew this day might come, which is why we've never seriously considered buying a villa or DVC.

We keep trying to spend less time at the parks but there's something about that old Disney magic that draws us in every time. Your plans sound great hope you have a fabulous time :)

Last year we only visited a park on about half of our 17 days, and then only for an hour or so.

We do like to pop into Epcot to dine though.

I thought that Orlando was Disney !!! sorry I must have misunderstood why we went the last three times :cheer2: :cheer2:

I do hope you get this out of your system very soon you could cause a riot

This is not as rare a you might think.

First few times we went we spent full 14 hour days in the parks and did everything.

Gradually over the years we have reduced down.

The last few years have seen us missing a park completely in rotation each time we go and also we tend to get there early - do what we want and leave by 11 or 12. Sometimes returning at 6 or 7pm sometimes not.

Whilst I am admitting stuff I wll also say MK is our least favourite park and we rarely go there now.

I am sure many people wont understand this - in the same way that I dont get the people who fly all that way and never even leave Disney property the whole 2 weeks. :)

I have to admit the things I look forward to most now are going to places like Winter Park, Longboat Quay etc.

We also stood around in Universal and IOA and wondered what to do next so we won't be going there but going all the way to Orlando and not do any disney parks i just couldn't bear this although that is not to say it might not happen(i hope not).

Last year we went on a last minute trip to WDW ( got flights with Virgin for £210 and could not miss the offer)! We have DVC so stayed at OKW and decided just to do one day at MK and one day at BB. It was a fantastic holiday, one of our best as it meant we took more time to relax and enjoy our surroundings rather than rush about and also we were able to do other things that there never seemed time for before. :thumbsup2

This year however we are planning to do all Disney parks as DD begins work for her GCSE's after the summer so our next trip will not be until Aug 08! :sad2:
