I'm so bummed! I was on the phone promptly at 7 a.m. Eastern this morning with WDW Travel Company. After holding for over 1 1/2 hours there were no more discounts. The cast member tried several different codes, but still nothing, nada, zip! He offered to change my ressie to a different resort, but I don't wanna go anywhere else, I wanna go the Fort. Just wondering if anyone else failed as miserably as I did. If you were lucky enough, then I salute you!

Yeah, we know if we get anything, we're gonna have to break it up before/after T-day week as that's definitely blacked out of the discounts. But hey, still worth it for us to see what we can get. (fingers crossed)

ETA: Just got off the phone.
So...... here's the scoop in our case. Our reservation is 20 nights total. The discount is only good on reservations up to 14 nights (excluding the blackout dates). So we would need to rebook the last 6 nights as a 2nd reservation, and then they could apply the discount to the first ressie (up to 11/25).

But (and it's a big BUT) the last 6 nights includes Sat/Sun of Thanksgiving weekend.... and right now there's ZERO availability that weekend (no big surprise there).

So essentially T-day bit us in the hiney after all, but the good news is that it seems there ARE still discounts to be had, depending on when you're looking for.

We'll be there Nov. 26 - Dec. 4. I even called back this evening just to make sure that nothing had been overlooked by the CM that I spoke with this morning. Of course it was a waste of time, but I had to try it. LMK the outcome once your hubby gets off the phone, and good luck!!!

Part of the issue with your reservation *may* be that the first 2 nights are blocked out.

Okay, I'm confused. I've been up since the crack of dawn and my mind is shutting down quickly. What days are you guys going to be there? Was there any indication that there are still discounts available for the week that I'll be there. The CM that I spoke with this morning said that he tried busting our ressie up in into two different ressie's, but he couldn't get anywhere with it. I'm just assuming that for now there's nothing out there for me. Oh, how I love surprises though! I've got faith!!!

I've done 3 ressies because of block out on discounts. We wanted to stay one week over Halloween. So I did 2 nights prior on discount, 2 nights no discount, 3 nights discount.

Check on the dates before and after thanksgiving week. Usually the Friday before the week up to Sunday after Thanksgiving will probably be on block out.

If you have a ressie already for Thursday - Sun, you can keep that reservation, and then book the days surrounding it. Then cancel days off your original reservation, that way you don't loose those nights.

Same sad news here Fig Chick! I tried to add the AAA rate a few weeks ago w/ no luck & now no GP or FL Res discounts are available for the Fort during our vacation. After being on hold for 1.5 hours this morning, I had no choice but to hang up when I got to work (w/o ever actually talking to a live person). Fingers crossed for the AP rate, but I'm not very hopeful. Hope y'all have better luck in the next few days!!!

Yep, I struck out also. I was on hold for about 30 minutes (at work -- oops) and was told there was nothing open. We are there for the entire week of Tgiving. She did say that different resorts open up blocks at different times. So maybe there is hope if we keep trying.

Week before T-day week is usually really slow (like awesomely so) but the weekend/week after isn't anywhere near as slow as it used to be - especially at the Fort.

I'm going to try calling back this morning. I'm sure that Disney really wishes that I'd just let it go, but I'm not ready to give up just yet! I know just how you feel! I was beginning to think that I was the land of the forgotten while I was on hold yesterday, lol! It is beyond frustrating to wait that long only to be told that nothing is available. My fingers are crossed too that DW will offer more discounts that we can all take advantage of. May the force be with us!!!

Reading your comment reminded me of something. The CM that I spoke with when I called back last night said something about capacity control. She didn't elaborate, all she said was that Disney only releases X amount of discounts at a time due to capacity control. That's the first time I've ever heard anything like that. Maybe I'm missing something, but that doesn't make any sense. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Hmm....interesting! If it weren't for missing out on many of the Christmas displays, I wouldn't have a problem with going the week before Thanksgiving. We've never been during November/December, but I've heard that it USED to be a really nice time to visit w/ the exception being Thanksgiving week and the two weeks surrounding Christmas. Just how crowded do you think it'll be while we're there? We've been during Mardi Gras/President's week and it was way worse than we expected. We're hoping that the week after T-day will be much better. Here's hoping anyway!

Actually, with the exception of the resort decorations (which last year mostly went up the weekend before Thanksgiving) pretty much everything else will likely be decorated the week before Thanksgiving week.

MK and HS for sure - as Osborne and MVMCP start 11/8. But last year EP and AK were also all decked out by about the middle of the month, and DTD was decorated very early.

And crowds that week last year were nonexistent. We waltzed into EP at 2-3pm one afternoon and Soarin had a 5 minute standby wait! That's the same week we rode TSM 4 times in one day - only once with FP and never with more than a 30 minute wait.

Just how crowded do you think it'll be while we're there? We've been during Mardi Gras/President's week and it was way worse than we expected. We're hoping that the week after T-day will be much better.

The 2-3 weeks after T-day used to be our regular weeks up until last year and we saw it go from really low crowds to more like low-moderate. Reports from '09 sound like it got even a little busier. We never waited more than 20 minutes for anything except TSM, Soarin, TT (the biggies) but we also come armed with a good bit of WDW knowledge and are super flexible so we can bypass a long line and come back later.

Not sure what this year will bring, but we're gonna find out!
