No Day But Today- FINAL post on page 40!

:sad1: Oh please don't finish your report..... keep writing and writing because I bet you have lots of final thoughts and many, many wise tips for us all! (and pics you haven't posted yet that we want to see). I've been following your report since the beginning and will go through withdrawal when you finish.......
:cheer2: Go Crystal Go!!

(I can totally relate to your scary ice story. We were at my MIL's house in Arkansas about 6 or 7 yrs. ago during the wicked ice storm that blew though the state around Christmas. When trying to leave her house--after two days trapped with no electricity-- we slid backwards down a big hill (about a fourth of a mile long) in an SUV...... contents aboard our car.... me, dh, and our two small children and a hyper dog, luggage and Christmas presents....:scared1: fortunately we hit a snow bank and not the many parked cars, brick mailboxes, trees, or down the cliff into the forest of ice covered trees.... I still think I need counseling over this!!!) WELL, thinking about how I am going to WDW in 2 weeks makes me feel better!;)

I will go through withdrawl, too! At least we know I'm good at dragging a story out... I bet I can think of at least a few more weeks worth of things to say! :rotfl:

And see, winter IS evil! My sister lives right down by the Arkansas state line, so similar to where you were! Very lucky that you just hit snow! And it IS traumatic!

Crystal - You should have a blog! You have the most interesting stories!! :thumbsup2

I do! My regular one and my MySpace one for when I'm lazy! ;) (Which is most of the time!) Let me know if you want links!

Right now our dates are October 13th - October 20th. We're supposed to leave for a cruise on the 20th but we may have to cancel that now. Won't know about that for a few more weeks but if we do we thought we'd make it up to ourselves by spending a few more days stomping grapes at Epcot. ;)

Kungaloosh!!! We've been practicing the secret handshake. :thumbsup2

Kungaloosh! (Man, I could go for one of those about now!) Our current plans are to arrive on Oct 26, so you may have to do a lot of grape stomping to overlap! ;) There's no such thing as too much food and wine! And how often do you get to go to the AC dressed as a pirate? Not often enough, I bet!

You officially RULE now..lol. I'm a big Potter Fan and it's alwasy nice to see I'm not the only adult who is. :thumbsup2

Awesome! I want some sort of tag that says I officially rule! :cool1: And yes, I'm a big nerd- I've got my copy of HP 7 all pre-ordered, and I'll be at BN at midnight!

Add me to the long list of people who hate to see this TR coming to an end. As someone who met most all of her big life goals by 26 (college, marriage, 2 kids, home ownership, good job, etc.), you've inspired me to think bigger and make new goals for myself that are adventurous. As you have done on your site, I will be making a life "to do" list and look forward to working my way through it.

I think we should all chip in to support you in a move to WDW permanently so we can get daily trip reports. :) More realistically, you should definitely look into being a travel writer, perhaps publish your reports to a site, add some simple ads via Google Ads and I bet you'd have a lucrative career in the works based on the appeal of your writing. Something to think about! :thumbsup2

Crystal thanks for a great TR you have a wonderful way with words maybe you could start writing for a couple months a year in Florida? You could always go to WDW for research :yay:

Kat, you're definitely not in the minority. There are about 5 of us in the office who are huge Harry Potter fans, and we've been planning to take the day off when the next movie comes out this summer. (We're attending the midnight showing and will then have the day off to sleep/rest.) I believe that we're also plotting a contest to see who will finish Book 7 first.

Crystal,

I had this brilliant idea that I could fill the time between now and your next trip report reading your old trip reports. I found my way to your web page of reports and was going through the December 2004 report and...it stops after Part 9! Noooooooooooooooooo!

The DIS search is totally useless these days, so if you ever did post the whole report on here, I can't find it - what's a girl to do?!! :confused3

I am also devestated that this trip report has come to an end. Oh well, I'm sure the next 8 months will fly by, right? thanks for taking us on your fantastique solo journey!

Oops! Actually, just the link on part 9 isn't up- the report does continue! Try the index:

I quite like the idea about having companies sponsor trips! You should go around to local businesses like pageant contestants have to do, wearing your tiara of course, and tell them you'll wear their company's logo on all your clothes and march around WDW saying how great the company is. You'll be back at WDW in no time! :)

I'm gonna miss this report. I really loved the idea about writing three pages every morning. I am definitely going to try that!

I love the "100 Things" on your website! Is that a template or did you just think of it yourself? I'd love to do the same and have my friends do it, too!

Crystal,

#1 - I am anxiously awaiting the next installment popcorn::

#2 - I think you should seriously consider the September 27, 2008 Special Western Cruise on the Disney Magic :rolleyes1 no reason :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 (and oybolshoi too, for that matter)

#3 - I read your 100 things, and oddly started to wonder.....have you ever considered a career in physical therapy? You definately have the personality, and it's medical without being medical if that makes any sense. I don't know where that came from. :confused3

Anyhow, keep up the wonderful prose. :thumbsup2

While we're extending invitations, if you ever come out to Disneyland, we have to meet up. I do Disneyland the way you and Katie do WDW - I can assure you that a HI-larious time would be had by all! :thumbsup2

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who has been reading & replying! I'm feeling the love! I'm skipping dance class tonight (asthma is evil!), and was in a grumpy mood, but all the new replies have cheered me up a lot!

Highly recommended! And I can't recommend "The Artist's Way" book enough! I really have to be sure I do them on my next Disney trip! I think it would make for a MUCH better trip report! Usually when I take notes, they're things like "funny kid on bus" or "took nap, walked to Dolphin for coffee"- I write about what I DID, but I hardly ever make notes about how I *feel* about what I did, and that's the hardest part to remember later!

I think there was a webring for it a few years ago, everybody was doing it ;) Basically you just list 100 things about yourself- much harder than it sounds!

I've been wanting to do a Western cruise for eeeeeever! (Well, you know, since they started them!). I haven't done DCL since my very first Disney trip in May 2000!!! If I can find a cure for this whole "being poor" thing, I'm in! (I spent last night poking around on the internet trying to find ways to make some extra cash this year. Gotta save up for the Disneyween trip, and pay this one off!)

And nope, I'd never thought about physical therapy! Interesting idea, though! I have always wanted to volunteer at one of those theraputic riding centers, where they put kids on horses.

While we're extending invitations, if you ever come out to Disneyland, we have to meet up. I do Disneyland the way you and Katie do WDW - I can assure you that a HI-larious time would be had by all! :thumbsup2

I've got to get to DL eventually! I haven't heard back from the contest I entered, so apparently I'm not a finalist :( Someday, though, I'll make it out West! It's too bad my sister lives in San Fran, not LA, or I could pull the whole "going to visit family" thing!

Since I've got some free time on my hands tonight, I promise to try to get something new posted! Stay tuned, kids! ;)

I hope you are feeling better soon. Asthma is no fun at all, my mom has it and she has a lot of bad days when it acts up.

I really loved your trip report! I hope someday I can have a nice long trip with lots of resort hoping like you. But that maybe a ways in the future due to the cost. But one thing i will do from now on is carry a journal. I think everyone at some point should take a solo trip to disney. Its just fantastic.

I truly enjoyed reading your report and I cant wait till October when you go on your next trip because i will be looking for another report....if you write one. *hint hint ;) * lol. Too bad we arent going the same time :(

Looking forward to your final thoughts!

Treasures from Afar, Part 1
(aka "How we gonna pay next year's rent?")

FINALLY, some updating from me! Sorry I've been so slow!

Before I get to discussing the loot, I have a story to share that I just remembered! It's a little thing, but I cracked up remembering it!

On the night that Care and I did our planes, trains, and automobilles relay to get to the Adv Club, the monorail we got at Epcot had a broken door!

You know how the doors open one at a time? There was a large crowd waiting to get on our car, and the first door opened... and then nothing happened. Well-trained by Disney, we all just stood there, staring at the second door, waiting for it to swing open. Never did! Finally the CM working there said "Um, you can get on. The door just isn't working." Of course, when it was time to get off, we all hesitated again! It just felt so weird to be getting off before both doors opened!

(There was also a CM working the monorail station with a monorail hat! It was awesome, and I told him so!)

But anyway! The game plan for this part of the report was to share some of the awesome souveniers I brought back! I found some really nifty things in all of my shopping, but these are the only photos I have ready to go, so we're starting with pins!

pins2.jpg

My new pirate collection! Gotta love the redhead! (And yeah, one of them is a button, not a pin, but who could resist?)

pins3.jpg

In honor of my beloved travel companion!

pins4.jpg

Somewhat random... I had to get the tea pin to commemorate our awesome afternoon tea! And funny enough, when I got home, I noticed that I also have the 2004 version of that 2007 pin, and didn't realize it!

pins5.jpg

More randomness! The DVC pluto pin is one of the free ones the DVC CM gave me... she also gave me the Kilimanjaro one at the bottom.

The pirate pin trading pin I got at the pin shop at DD for $1 with my purchase- yay for cheap pins! I never really trade, but I want to start on my next trip. My problem is that I only buy pins that I really like, so I've had no desire to trade yet. But if I stock up on a few I don't really want to keep, I can finally trade!

The other pin pictured here is the one I got for doing Backstage Safari. If you can't tell, it has elephant booties! :) My older pin from doing the tour a few years ago had a gorilla on it.

So, here's my current pin collection:

pins.jpg

The lanyard on the left is obviously all of my new ones- I usually only buy a couple per trip, but this time I splurged! (If you need me for the next 8 months, I'll be working every hour of my LIFE.)

That's all I've got so far! More treasures from afar to come soon!

Crystal, I was the same way with pin trading when I first started....I was like "do I HAVE to trade? Ilike them!"
But then I found out about the cast lanyard pins. And I started buying cheapie pins to trade for them. And now whenever we take people to Disney, I have to warn them that I will be sprinting off periodically to scout cast lanyards. :rolleyes1
It is fun, you'll enjoy it.

Great installment! Now back to my morning routine..... :surfweb:

Great trip report Crystal.. I have enjoyed reading it so much. Thanks for sharing your journey . I was cracking up about the monorail.... I bought 3 of the same pins as you on my last trip!!!! I don't trade either. Have a great day
