Yikes. I've been spending money like I actually HAVE money, so I need to rework the budget a bit. I'll be out of town for about 15 days in June, so I'm going to up my May budget by what my spending turns out to be, and then lower my June budget accordingly. So, May + June should = $400 together.

Need a little help with next month's budget.

I am working hard on planning next month's budget since it includes my vacation. I am going with my sister, her husband and my niece for two nights in Detroit and will see a baseball game. I already have and paid for the ball game tickets with money I made clicking on things online. We are staying at an Embassy Suites in a suburb so that breakfast and the nightly manager reception (free drinks and very light snacks) are included. I used Hilton points that I had earned over a couple of years to pay for one night. My sister will use the pay in advance online rate via the Hilton site for the other night when we get to be a week out.

I am trying to guess what the other expenses will be - - gas (Detropit is 160 miles away), parking at the ball park, eating at the ball park and at least one meal is all I can think of.

The problem is that I only have $100 plus a $20 gas card to cover my share of these other costs. Do you think it will be enough. Else I will have to try to figure out how to pinch some more out of my regular budget.

I would maybe pack some snacks in your car so you have to dig into that $100 less? I think you might end up spending more on gas than you think, that always happens with us when we're on vacation.

ETA: It looks like my boss "forgot" to pay me again :furious:. I email him my hours every other monday, the bookkeeper comes in on tues or wed to run the checks and there was an email this morning that said "I couldn't find your hours." Yeah, he definitely got them, he just didn't look in his freakin' inbox! Which means no money for another two weeks because I won't get a check on friday. That's ridiculous.

I agree, if you can take snacks/drinks with you then that will save a lot of money. Thats always a major part of any trip I find.

I couldn't think of any other expenses except maybe tips?

Thanks for the idea about taking snacks. I have a $15 Wal-Mart gift card that should buy the M & M's, string cheese and peanuts which are my family's idea of vacation food. I also talked to my sister and she suggested that we pack a picnic lunch and stop at a roadside park to eat on the drive down.

Kickipoo Joie Juice - That's crazy that you're not getting paid again. Didn't that happen last month too? I'd be furious.

I'm so glad the end of this month is coming. The expenses just keep running up all in the same month. I should probably just give up on this month really but here goes.... DH's bike cost us $238 yesterday.:confused3 Apparently, a 1k service costs a lot more for a bike than a car ... oh, and they fixed a recall that likely caused the stalling... we'll see. Still have to get the minivan and the car checked ... dh thinks the brakes are gone in the car... hopefully things will hold out a few weeks more til next month.

So, I've been lurking on the 'no buy' threads the past couple months and decided I'd try on my own this month writing everything down just to see how we do. We stink at this!! LOL But, it is good to see it all written out. Maybe I'll be brave and post next month. Or at least try to have more zero days than I do this month. ;)

Kickipoo Joie Juice - That's crazy that you're not getting paid again. Didn't that happen last month too? I'd be furious.

Yep. I'm trying to get him to hire somebody to replace me, because if I just left the whole thing would go kerfluey (10 person office, think of me as the (underpaid) hub that ties everyone together).

The problem is, the longer he drags his feet about hiring someone else (they need a close to full timer) and the more he "forgets" to pay me (this week he claimed he couldn't find my email with my hours), the more inclined I am to just say the heck with it.

I can't do that to the other people in the office who really do depend on me, though.. It would make their jobs a *lot* harder...

May 21: $0

My good friend just called, the company her husband works for just announced they were closing their doors. Today. My money freak-out continues. :scared1:. I just really feel the need for a good emergency fund...
