Dude! Smokin'!

ok I last posted on Monday night.
15th went to lunch and bought for 4 of us for $15
16th lunch again but co worker paid went out to dinner at one of favorite restaurant and soup came out really greasy, sent back for different type of soup and it was just gross. The DH found a hair in his chili, the manager comp the whole bill. Will not go back there.
17th lunch again but another co worker paid.
Since night before was free , decided to go to a Mexican restaurant spent $22. (within budget) Wednesday a new Walmart opened in town, so we dicided to go see it. I ended up spending $46 on 6 t-shirt and a package of panties. (not in budget but needed this stuff)
18th lunch today $6.27 and $24 at the grocery store.

Paid bills tonight and paid one credit card off and $200 on another card.

probably will not go out this weekend at all, so should be a no spend weekend.

I did really well today, I went to the PX for a bike helmet and tire pump for my DS and came out with just a bike helmet and tire pump. Plus the helmet he chose was only $5.99! I took it out of my homeschool budget, I figured the bike riding as PE. Oh, and the tax software that I was allowing in my no spend list turned out to be free :cool1: thanks to a link someone posted on here.

Here are my updates:

1/17 ~ Grocery Shopping I spend about $70.00 about $15.00 was unplanned items (DS needed a packer shirt for Packer Day on Friday). Gas $35.00
1/18 ~ $80.00 ~ DH gas and bowling money.

Given that our temps are supposed to be in the -20's all weekend, I have no problem staying in and making this a now spend weekend.

Hope everyone has an on track weekend.

Krystine

Month Total So Far - $314.19

Like I said yesterday, I blew my budget. Let's see if I can make the rest of the month no-buy. I spent $155.55 on stuff I hadn't budgeted for. I still have saved more then I've spent though, as I've gotten three paychecks so far this month, and still haven't spent all of the first one. :goodvibes

today is...1/19 and I went out to drop off DD at a friends house with the full intention of going to the grocery store afterwards. But came home instead. Decided even if it was free I couldn't spare the room or time in my life to deal with it at the moment. Also avoided CVS which is a major accomplishment.

Dh will have to leave in about an hour or so for work so I'll be home for the rest of the day. Oldest DD is spending the night out so dinner will be a throw together whatever the little ones demand (using up some pantry items :thumbsup2 ).

Should be a no spend day. Hopefully the ppl who are supposed to buy our crib show up soon. That would be $50 in for Disney. If they no show I've got another buyer that can come tomorrow. ;)

It's 4pm and I just woke up...so today will be a $0 day here. I am going to do laundry and not leave the house!

I'm not going anywhere else today so there shouldn't be any unplanned spending. Boy, alot of my money goes to bowling! I guess with 4 kids doing it that's not so bad, it's their only activity that I pay for until baseball season so not too bad.

Saturday 19th - $0
Sunday 20th - $0

Total this month personal spending - $126.50/$400 - this is $100 more than yesterday as I booked my shore excursions for Hawaii which came to $US75 which is approximately $NZ100.

We spent $11.50 on fresh veges at the market this morning as planned. We got capsicums, spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms. No fresh fruit there today though.

I did have to go to the supermarket to get some yogurt for breakfasts during the week and fruit, so I ended up getting the rest of the stuff on the list - it seemed silly not to when I was going anyway. However I did stick to the list and didn't get anything that wasn't on it. I even just grabbed a basket instead of a trolley so I couldn't be tempted by anything else - its a lot harder to be tempted by stuff if you have to carry it around with you.

I also made lunch again today - we often used to buy lunch out at the weekends. I made ratatouille for lunch with polenta and made up one left over meal for lunch for work to freeze. The rest of the ratatouille, I added TVP to and will serve it with pasta and salad later in the week.

Tonight, we have left over roast veges from last nights dinner to make a self crusting quiche to go with salad this evening - that will make enough to do another 2-3 work lunches. This has to be a power saver with having part meals already prepared to do something else with. Its definitely a time saver, thats for sure and I can't use the excuse of not enough time to cook and get takeaways. We have budgeted $20 for one meal out a week and the week starts tomorrow, we used to get takeaways about 2-3 times a week in the past.

Unfortunately the amp for the stereo system needs fixing which is $210 but its worth repairing as a new one would cost 10x that and its a good quality one. Robert loves his hi-fi so we count that as a necessity.

I'm hoping that this will be a no buy week though I may have buy lunch for work one day but that won't be more than $7.

well made it through with no spending (online would be my only choice).

the crib was picked up so I'm up $50 for Disney

someone is supposed to come tomorrow afternoon to see about the LT climbing cube so hopefully that will be another $40 towards WDW.

Then someone else is coming to look at the LT race car bed which I have up for $100..crossing my fingers on this because it is taking up a lot of space in the garage. :crowded:

I'll be out spending though as we need milk and if our DVC guide is working we are putting down the $500 to get started on our purchase....really freaking out about this as it is a lot of money and commitment :scared:

We've had DVC since 2005, we love it. Our friends/family love that we have it too, they rent points from us all the time and come down with us. We usually rent out enough points to pay for the dues every January, which is nice :)

Had a 0 day today because it SNOWED here! We haven't had appreciable snow in 6 years! And we had snow wed nite, too! Every kid in the neighborhood is going nuts playing in it! Okay, a few of the grownups too. The most common thing I hear when the kids come back in is "snow is COLD!". Well, yah!

I blew about $60 today. Clothes for the baby (next year on clearance - baby gap jammies for $4 something!), picture for me, 2 sweaters for me. I should of stayed out of the mall!

I just wish disneyshopping.com would stop sending me emails!!! :headache:

My downfall was all the eBay reminder/notice emails that said when items were listed that matched my favorite searches - I can't tell you how much $$ I spent on clothes that way! :scared1:

I started by quickly deleting the emails and then my searches expired, so thankfully no more emails right now. In the future, though, I fully intend to sign back up! :rolleyes1

Did another big batch of homemade muesli this morning instead of boxed cereals.

Recipe, please? :wizard:

Ahhh! All your meals sound delicious! popcorn:: Yummm.... ratatouille and polenta!

1/18 - $0 :thumbsup2 ended up volunteer bartending at my event so I didn't have to spend any money!

1/19 - $0 :cool1: babysitting DNiece and DNephew as we speak out in the suburbs. DSis and DBIL are actually at dinner at a restaurant within walking distance from my house in the city, but it's easier to get the kiddos to sleep in their own beds. Plus, I get "paid" in homemade food and cheap wine - who can complain? (DSis also tells me we will be folding laundry when she gets home. Oh, why not - I have to earn my keep here every weekend!)

Tomorrow will be DSis's first lesson in the art of CVSing. I can't wait! (For those of you who CVS: I already told DBIL to expect 15 sticks of that Mennen deodorant! :lmao: )

One more thing - I was in PJs all morning, put on a pair of real pants to ride the bus and el train out to the 'burbs, and then changed back into (new) PJs.

So, technically I've been in the club all day - albeit in two different ZIP codes! :rotfl2:

I just wish disneyshopping.com would stop sending me emails!!! :headache:

I have one word of suggestion.....unsubscribe.

Well, I too have stumbled off of the wagon and spent when I didn't really plan to. January 19: $35.00 at the Lion King Musical (souveniers of course)
I did take it out of Misc money so of course cash was paid......but still...

I was doing some figuring with my DH and we are trying to accumulate a failry good size emergency fund in a short amount of time. We are saving
quite a bit but it's little things like this that keep us from getting there faster. It is a fine line however between living your life frugally and living it in a hole and spending absolutely nothing. We really have been trying to find where for us that line is. I really do think it's a personal decision. Hard to do...

Today 1-20-08 much better: $4.75 (grocery planned) out of milk and need Sunday paper for grocery shopping on Wed. Thanks to my DH who went out in the frigid weather.

I just tell myself how much better we are doing than 6 months ago and we will keep working at it!

Good Luck.

1/20: .84 groceries (2gals milk, 2 packs of bacon, 2 containers roast beef, bananas, 1 newspaper)

I'm in for the rest of the day. Sadly had to toss most of a 12pk of diet pepsi as DH didn't' think to take it out of the car and it exploded from the cold. :sad2:

Did sell the race car bed so up $100 this morning. :cool1:

Hopefully the person coming to see the climbing cube buys it for the $40.
:goodvibes

So not a $0 day but pretty darn close. :thumbsup2

ETA~ yay they did buy it! DH is going to be so thrilled to see we are getting so close to having the porch cleared off.

I was all gung ho at the beginning of the month, probably since it is the first month of the year.
We have had a few non planned expences. First we had to take our dog to the vet, that was $386, then I finally decided to go for a girls weekend getaway, that is costing me about $600 all together with airfare, the dog needs to get groomed, he has an appt. for the 29th. Then last night we decided to take the kids to McDonalds, and they all needed new shoes, so $22 at Mickie D's and $54 for the shoes! :headache:
What a month! :headache: February you will see a very, very, very...did I say, VERY, frugal person over here.
Even though we have had the extra expences I'm not saying "well, this month is shot"...I'm still watching my money and trying to be cautious at the grocery store. I've been doing really good with the grocery store thing as far as sticking to my list. :thumbsup2

Recipe, please? :wizard:

I don't have a recipe as such as I just eyeball it but typically I put in the following -
- Oats - the real thing and not those horrible instant powdered ones
- Sultanas and other diced dried fruit - apricots, prunes, figs, peaches etc - just whatever you especially like
- Nuts - again your preference, I like almonds, hazelnuts and pumpkin seeds
- Sometimes I add yogurt coated sultanas too
- to vary it, I also sometimes add wheatgerm and flaked oats but not too many or its sawdusty

I like it raw but if you prefer toasted muesli, add some honey and oil to coat the pop it in the oven to roast for a bit - about 20-30 minutes until its golden.

To serve it, the night before I put 1/2 a cup into a container, add some yogurt and/or juice and some fresh or canned fruit. The oats soak up the moisture so its like a bircher style muesli.

In the winter, I put my 1/2 cup serving into a bowl and add milk and heat until really hot. I leave it to cool for about 10 minutes and the oats soften and the fruit absorbs some of the milk.

Enjoy :)

I prefer knowing what is going into my breakfast, its got less sugar and fat than the boxed stuff and is an easy way to increase fibre and my fruit intake for the day.
