I'm continuing with the pantry/freezer challenge, which is actually a lot of fun and a good exercise for me. I'm keeping with my weekly produce box, because I love fruit & veggies and I think it's what's keeping me so healthy and resilient. I may skip a week somewhere to cut down costs. Ditto with my weekly bread co-op. I'm glad I can opt out when I need to save! :teacher:

Picked up some snacks for work, baking items, and paper towels at the Aldi. I should be set for a while... until I need milk and then I'll find a bazillion other things I want at Aldi! :rolleyes1

I thought it was so funny when I read this because one of my last dining out entries for Nov is 3.70 at Costco. We also were already about $60 over the "dining out" budget and I was dying for 5 guys but we were doing some shopping at Costco and my DH talked me into that for dinner! Great minds think alike!:rotfl:

Isn't it great! I am glad your DH talked you into that for dinner! I love knowing how much I spent on the month already so I can make wiser decisions at the end of the month :). My old self would have just went and not even realized how much money I had already spent eating out for the month! :scared1:

Just for curiosity sake, what did you buy at Costco for 5.99?

Hee hee, I bought a 5 pound bag of frozen brocolli. I know how to live it up huh? We go through a bag about every 2 weeks and I forgot to pick one up when I was out shopping with my DH on the "I want 5 guys day" :rotfl:

I've never done this before, but I really need to cut back on discretionary spending, so maybe this will help. I love the idea of "no buy days." I don't really have a "budget" for each category, so I will have to lump everything together for now.
Here is what I have done so far:

Dec 1: $24.00 at Lowe's (supplies for my new BF washer and dryer!)
$4.86 lunch at Wendy's
$47.03 Gas
Dec 2: $0

This is great!
Thank you!

Great sales at Meijer this week! I forgot that I wanted to add how much I save from coupons/promotions/sales. I like that idea! I saved a ton today! They had a special on athletic shoes, buy one pair get a second pair for $1.00. Same thing for belts and wallets and winter hats and gloves! Plus, Jason (my DH) works there so we get 10% off of general merchandise, plus I had two coupons save 5.00 off general merchandise when you buy $25!! Woo hoo! So on my first run in to the store, I bought Aaron (our son) two pairs of athletic shoes one in a size higher than what he currently wears and a pack of 11 socks for Dada and I. Got all of this for $20!! So needless to say I spent alot of money at Meijer today but I got some great deals!

I'm starting here late, but Dh is losing his job in January so I need to start and get used to doing this.

I'm not going to add in regular bills such as mortgage, car payments-that kind of thing. But this is what I want to follow:

Groceries: $100/wk
Allowances: $20/wk for Dh and myself, I'll probably give the baby $20/wk too :)
Only eating out once a week. This one is going to be tough. I'm forcing us to take lunches with us to work. We always seem to forget or are just too lazy to pack it so we eat out.

I want to track my groceries and eating out also.

DH and I have started having a little "date night" after we drop DD off at dancing on Thursdays. We just go sit at a nearby Starbucks and have a coffee and talk. I am not counting this in the eating out budget though, I think this should go under marriage counseling and its really necessary due to the problems we have been having lately..............but its helping.

67.62 groceries for December (bought on Nov 29)

Dec 1 - pizza 28.25
Dec 2- -------
Dec 3 - eating out 15.52

(not off to a great start with eating out!) Today is grocery day so that will be at least $50. I am counting things like washing powder and toiletries in the grocery budget also since I do my shopping at Walmart and its all in there together.

December:

Groceries - 67.62/350 (giving myself $50 extra for Christmas dinner)
Eating out - 43.77/150
