No Buy December 2009

I have been so bad! I didn't finish No Buy October and didn't even attempt November! Today I am turning over a new leaf. I have to get back under control. I have to budget in my groceries for DD's birthday but the presents are done. Goal is to keep groceries <$450 for the month. Hard-seems like less has cost me more these last two months. I also want at least 15 $0 days.

Welcome to No Buy!

The point of this thread is to keep track of your discretionary spending on each day of the month. The goal is to have as many $0 days as possible.

The beauty of this challenge is that each person gets to set their own spending goals and choose how they would like to post their results. Most people choose to post their spending for each day on a daily basis, as well as keep a running total of the monthly spending. Some people break it into categories, while other people do not. You can also list exceptions to your spending, such as holiday purchases or vacations. It is entirely up to you!

Good luck to everyone. :cheer2: December is sure to be a tough one!

CherylA, thanks for starting this. I faded away from the November thread, but I lurked through to the end and I saw you mentioned you copied my post. :thumbsup2

I'm back for December! Last month was a bit kooky for me; I had family come in from out of state and I had a terrible time tracking spending. We celebrated Christmas (gift exchange part) with Thanksgiving so this month SHOULD be a good month for me.

However, this month is FULL of events! Two Christmas parties, a new Disney movie (The Princess and the Frog) that I want to see sooooooo badly, and a Christmas event in the park. We also have coupons to a museum and Outback Steakhouse that expire this month that I want to take advantage of. My friend's birthday is in January. The activity she wants to do is $45; I don't know if I have to pay for it this month or next, nor am I sure if I'm going to list it or if that activity is going to be an exception.

Goals: 15 $0 Days; stay within $600 for food, gas, and misc.

1 - $0 :thumbsup2
2 - $0 :thumbsup2
3 - $47.81: Winn-Dixie
4 - $51.18: Walgreens, Walmart, McDonald's
5 - $16.71: Winn-Dixie, gas station

Total:
$0 Days: 2/15: 13% (13 left)
$600 Limit: $115.70: 19% (484.30 left)

12/1 - $15.00 Newleaf Natural
12/1 - $12.00 Dinner Meeting
12/2 - $14.21 Aldi
12/3 - $5.75 Picture Show
12/4 - $15.00 Out with Roomie
12/5 - $0

Total: $61.96/$260.00

Phew - finally had a $0 day! Plus, I bartended yesterday and made a LOT more money than I expected - I'll be adding most of that to my monthly allowance, so it looks like my worries about affording Christmas dinners/outings this month will be solved! :goodvibes

Dec 1-$62 Grocery/Household budget
Dec 2-$13 Lowes
Dec 3-$0:thumbsup2
Dec 4-$16 Rosa's

Groceries/Household/Eating out: $800/$688 left
Holiday Fun Budget: $125
Liquor Store: $50
Employee days: $60
Christmas gifts: $500
Haircuts: $60

Ack! Already "eating" our way through the budget. I've got to spend today getting more organized for next week. We kind of crashed and burned on our daily dinner plans. After today, I only have two days off between now and Xmas day, so it will be a shopping day as I must get to Sam's if nowhere else. Plus, I broke the star topper when putting up the tree last night.:headache:

I don't know how fancy your star topper was, but I got a cute star topper at Walgreens a couple days ago for $1.99. It's small, but it looks nice. They had a few different designs - some were a lot nicer than others.

Not fancy at all. I think I paid $3 at Big Lots years ago. DS is five and I always hated trees that were too nice to touch as a little kid, so I won't have one for years to come. I'll check them out. I'm more worried about the other temptations that come with shopping in the Xmas departments.:rotfl:
