So I have been reading the "what I would/wouldn't do" thread and was surprised to find so many people said no more DCL Bingo for them. Why do you not plan to do it again?

It's too expensive for us.

Plus, besides the regular bingo cards, you can play with electronic boards that will play a whole bunch of cards for you at once, you don't do anything just watch the board and call bingo when it's time. It's not as interesting to do it that way.

:cutie:

We won't be doing it on our next cruise either. We like the paper cards but they can't compete with the electronic cards and it is so expensive. There are so many electronic cards that it's nearly impossible to win without them but buying the electronic cards takes the fun out of it.

Personally, I only play once or twice if that. It is very expensive and I keep thinking of everything else I want.

However, I will say that although the electronic boards win quite often (after all you get a lot of "cards" on them); I have seen people win with the paper cards (I won on a paper card for over $300 but unfortunately, had to split that with one other person). In fact, I've seen the grand prize on the final bingo won by a paper card!!

It cost too much to play for the amount of the prizes they give out. Our room was packed with players and only gave out prizes that were no more then $200. If we ever play again it will be for a chance at the big winnings at the end of the cruise.

WAY too expensive for me. I'd rather go buy myself a Dooney and know that I get to keep it.
But, keep in mind, I don't gamble, LOVE that DCL doesn't have a casino. I feel that if I want to throw my money away, I can get the same motion from going into the bathroom, dropping in a coin and flushing! :lmao:

And, I agree with the chintzy prizes. They weren't anywhere near worth what we paid to play.

Wanted to add that when we cruised it was $30 minimum for just the paper cards and the prizes were around $100 with a room packed with people. Glad we tried it once I guess but it didn't seem worth it. I'd rather have the time and money for something else.

Ditto on the too expensive comments! If we play at all, it would be at the final session. Last cruise we didn't play at all.

Way too expensive. And, the cynic in me just has to wonder what % of the money is kept by DCL rather than being distributed as prizes. Somehow when I play bingo and see all the other people playing, the math just never feels right to me, so I have opted out on bingo.

Just like everyone has said, WAY TO EXPENSIVE:scared1:
I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. I'd love to play it, but can't addord it!

A. Bingo is dreadfully boring.

B. Bingo is an enormous rip-off. Had to laugh at the comment about casinos being like flushing money down the toilet from someone who has played bingo! The 'house edge' in a typical bingo game is at least 40%; if you're playing correct strategy the house edge in a casino blackjack game is about 1%. (That's not counting cards, mind you, just playing 'straight' with correct strategy).

Even slots are a better bet than bingo.

We won't be doing it again. And that is coming from someone who won the final pot of 6500 on our first cruise. We had to split that three ways so we only got 2100, It was exciting to win but still it is too expensive.

The real reason I don't play is it takes forever for everyone to get a seat and buy their cards. You end up spending around $40 to $100+ to play 4 times. Thats right only 4 trys for a win. They usually have three games for little money and then the last game is larger. I wish they would play longer games and reduce the amounts people can win. I would much rather play for a longer period of time with more chances to win less money than just 4 trys. You really feel ripped off after you play if you didn't win, especially if someone wins in five numbers!!!

MY DH who never gambles or goes to a casino wanted to play bingo. We went to 3 sessions, and on the last session he won $350 so we netted $ 200+ and he was so excited it made me smile. We saw the jackpot won by a young man who we met on the bus from BLT to the pier so it was fun to see someone we met win the big jackpot. We are cruising in 2 months and will go to the last session no one wins during the week. I do like the electronic cards but paper cards will do.

When I saw that thread before my first cruise, I wondered why so many people hated Bingo.
Then we cruised. I realized that it probably isn't that they hated Bingo, just that they didn't feel fulfilled by it.
That was the case for us.

We did it, and it was kinda fun, but not fun enough to justify the cost.
As others have said, you have a crowded room full of people, maybe 100-150 people in the room, everyone paying anywhere from $30-100+ to play, and the person winning Bingo will win a couple hundred dollars. It's just too small of a likelihood that you could win and too small of a payout.

Disney does the mega jackpot at the end, and maybe it would be worth it to play that one, but we won't play the regular one again.

Even slots are a better bet than bingo.

I was just thinking of when I went to Las Vegas and I put 5 cents into a penny slot and got $125 back.

Bingo is min $30???
Sounds like I should save my bingo money and play my luck at the Atlantis slots!

Too expensive, and after 3 years since our last cruise, I still can't get that "B-11, B B 11" song out of my head. :)

I will always play bingo at least once but if there was a reason as to why I wouldn't anymore it would be because I've never won anything.

It used to be SO much fun when they did it the "old fashioned" way. The first time we played it with the machines was also the last. So disappointing.
