What is going on? Spoke with member services on Saturday about multiple date choices--availability on all--made NON-refundable flights on Sunday--called MS this morning and absolutely NO availability at ANY DVC resort for April 20-24!!! What is going on? Easter is in March, so I would have thought all Spring Breaks would be over. Now what do we do?

I am in Mass. That is the week of our April vacation!! I am waitlisted for Hilton Head that week. I hope I can get in!!

Ditto. School vacation for us. I made reservations at Vero Beach a while ago for that week..but we extended our vacation to start the week before on the 15 and as of about three weeks ago..there were still studios at OKW and SSR for that week.

The joys of DVC, learning the regional differences in school calendars!

I still chuckle over Jersey Week, as I thought it was some ESPN happening at MGM! :rotfl2:

In Maryland, spring break is the same week as Easter for public schools and public colleges. I was going back and forth between 4/19- 4/25 or the week after. I THOUGHT I would not be dealing with spring break! Well you guessed it, I picked 4/19-4/25!! I hope it is not too croweded....doesn't mean every state's spring break is then! (I keep telling myself this...:lmao: )

In NYC we have breaks in both March 3/19 - 3/30 (private catholic schools) and in April 4/21 - 4/25 (public schools). The April break coincides with Passover which is the union negotiated break for the NYC school system. So breaks up here are called Spring Breaks not, Easter Breaks. :confused3

This means no Spring vacations for us as my younger boys are in public middle school, and my older son is in catholic high school. :rotfl:

I don't want you to think that I don't believe what you are saying, but I was waitlisted for almost 3 months (early-November through last week!) for just 4/20. AND I was waitlisted for two months (October - November) for 4/21 - 4/25, so I find it hard to comprehend why someone at Member Services would tell you on Saturady that there was availability for this time period. I understand that cancellations happen, which is why I had my waitlist dreams fulfilled, but this week has been booked solid for months!

I'm sorry that you are in a bind, and I know this doesn't really help now, but I would recommend in the future actually making the DVC reservation BEFORE booking airfare. The entire concept of "availability" with DVC is a joke in my opinion. I have lost an "available" room while checking other dates/resorts! Unless I am ready to book that very minute, I pay no attention to what Member Services says about "availability."

The only advice I have at this point is get on a waitlist ASAP and cross your fingers!

Yes, NYC schools get Passover Week off and this will be during Passover Week.

Also, I friends in the Boston area and in NJ that seem to consistly get the 4th week of April off each year. :confused3

Yup April 21-25 is spring break for schools in Mass. I am going with my family Apr 17-25 at SSR to get a head start on crowds lol. Even waitlisted for BCV too but am not expecting that it comes through at this point. It's like northeast week down there that week lol, everyone I meet is from up here, NY, NJ it seems. The early bird catches the worm I guess, I set up my ressies as soon as members services opened the day I could book the whole thing at once.:surfweb:

I called for BCV on the 7 month mark to the day and I still had to waitlist for April. It cam through but that was back in November.

Good luck.

Trust me, I didn't want to believe what I was hearing either. I had to book the flights by midnight Sunday and with Member Services not having Sunday hours right now, I did it on prayer and you see where that got me! Normally, I do it all in one sitting. I have the flight up on the computer and Member Services on the phone and do both at the same time!

Also, I was reading on the rest of the boards that this week in April was relatively quiet!! I guess somebody better correct them!!! I was excited for a quiet week!:rolleyes1

I tried to book the week of April 20th as well and was told all resorts were booked. I wonder if the scheduled space shuttle launch is a factor? Rather than play the waitlist game, I booked the following week starting 4/27. Currently at SSR but waitlisted for VWL BCV and AKL.

It is interesting that all DVC resorts are booked. I understand that there will still be some spring break straglers, but as a whole, I think it will be much more quiet than the preceding weeks. I saw a survey (I think it was from the Unofficial Guide's website) that showed that the large majority of the nation's spring breaks were earlier. Also, the UG's website shows it to be "relatively" quiet with days in the 5-7 range as opposed to 8-10 range for the preceding weeks.

Either way, best of luck with the waitlist (hopefully you got on the waitlist). I'm sure something will come through.

Not even at OKW or SSR?

Wait list for all resorts and for each day individually. Then as you get days, you can re waitlist to try to get them at one resort or a "better resort" if applicable.

Alot Of Jersey Schools Are On Spring Break That Week, Hope Everything Works Out For You.(before Thanksgiving I Called Looking To Go From A 1 Bedroom To A 2 Bedroom And They Were Gone)

Maybe we should have a thread for the popular spring break weeks. I was thinking of going back last week of April 2009, and reading this thread makes me think maybe the first of May might be better for crowds!
