Well we purchased a new to us tow vehicle. We have acquired a 2013 Chevy 3500 dually with a 6.6 Duramax Diesel. Can't wait to use it to tow our TT and for a trip back to visit Mickey in 2017. Will post a picture as soon as the monsoons stop here and I can take one.

That requires a new 5th wheel trailer for the visit in 2018 (I am sure I have read somewhere that dually means you must get a 5th wheel...well, that would be my theory anyway ;) )

Congrats!

She already told me no new 5th wheel. Even though the dually has the rails installed for one. Which is fine, we just got the TT last year, so we can enjoy it camping locally, maybe take a trip down to MD to see the wild horses. But will have to save my pennies so I can get back down to Disney in 2017.

Dang, Chris. She's a hoss. Should pull your trailer with NP. Looks good.

Yeah good looking truck, you even know your camper is behind you!

Well not sure yet how it tows, we picked it up friday and it has rained since then. I have to adjust the hitch height most likely, but waiting for the sun to finally show up. Then I will have to schedule a quick camping trip to a local state park to test it out.
I may not know that I have the trailer hooked up and behind me, but that is ok. And if the wife one day wants to upgrade to a 5th wheel, we are good.

Eventhough I am late on this one and everyone has said this. You have to get the 5er if you are going to run Diesel Duelie. Hell my friend runs a 5er on his brand new Ford 350 with 6.7 SRW. Nice trailer and he said it pulls it without a problem. I know when I went from the my F150 to my current 250 with the same trailer, it was a night and day difference for local and distant trips. I am sure you will have the same experience. Good luck with the new ride. (even if it is a chevy)

Wife said it had to be a Chevy, so have to make the young lady happy. ::yes::

Congrats,

Welcome to the dark side (once you've gone diesel, there's no going back)

You will be embarrassed how easily it tows. Makes everything else seem silly.

What is the thing below the passenger door? Pop out step?

I have to concur with this. I have 27' TT and my F150 towed it fine, but the DW really wanted me to "Upgrade" to the F250. Well let me tell ya, it was a HUGE difference. I'd love to have a Diesel but I just can't justify it yet. Most of my driving is for work (about 5 miles each way) so a Diesel just doesn't make sense (financially) yet.

I'd love to upgrade my TT to a 5er even with my F250 SRW but we need (want) one with a "Bunkhouse" so the kids don't have to fold out a "Couch" or drop a dinette down to make a bed.

Congratulations, you are gonna be amazed at the difference in towing between gas and diesel.

You are going to love the 6.6 Duramax. Our pic avatar is 34ft fiver and 2008 2500. Makes traveling enjoyable. All you have to do now if find that right speed towing for mileage. Congrats!!!

I think thats where Chevrolet mounts the diesel exhaust fluid tank..

Yes that is my DEF tank. Still working on all details of where everything is on the truck. We picked it up friday and it rained, rained Saturday, rained Sunday, rained this morning. Sun is finally out so I am going to go put some stuff away in the truck, before it rains, tomorrow and Wednesday.

Maybe I should have bought a boat instead !!!!

Yes that is my DEF tank.

My truck didn't have to DEF system, it "had" a DPF exhaust. But my buddies that have that on their trucks say it uses a lot of that fluid when they are towing, Tiggerdad has that stuff on his fancy new Super Duty, he might can tell you if there is a difference when you are towing.

Ya, the newer diesels have a DPF to catch the soot (black smoke) and use DEF (urea) injection to control NOx. My 08 only had a DPF and got horrible mileage. My 2011 has DEF/DPF and gets as good of mileage as my old 02 and it makes 50% more HP and torque than the 02.

I don't notice towing using any more DEF. Until the last year, I towed as many miles as I drove it solo. My DEF talk holds 5 gallons and it lasts about an oil change. Since I'm not towing as much now, it still lasts about an oil change. :-)
