No 2016 trip, but new Tow Vehicle so we can make 2017, Pics added

Congratulations on the truck! May delay any expensive trips, but hey there are many other campgrounds that wont cost you so much.

DEF is not bad, just keep a jug on hand just in case you forget to top it off. You will use more DEF under load due to the amount of fuel burnt it will need to regenerate more often. Running the DEF tow trucks and averaging about 9mpg in them we usually see about 1 gallon of DEF to ever 60-70 gallons of diesel. Plus with the DEF level gauge you will be fine. I bet you will find out that towing the trailer will be no different, the biggest thing you will have to get used to is the extra width of the DRW truck.

My next truck will be a DRW but that's after I have a solid commuter car as I just don't want to have to park at the commuter lot with the extra wide truck.
 
First off: Welcome to the Dark Side! You will not be able to tell that camper is behind you pulling with the diesel. Well, you will based on the fuel gauge, but power wise you will not be able to tell.

My truck didn't have to DEF system, it "had" a DPF exhaust. But my buddies that have that on their trucks say it uses a lot of that fluid when they are towing, Tiggerdad has that stuff on his fancy new Super Duty, he might can tell you if there is a difference when you are towing.

I only have the one haul down to GSP with the f250. The DEF seems like a pain, but I really didn't burn that much going down there and back (about 600 miles). The one good thing is DEF fluid is DEF fluid. It is Urea and water, plain and simple. Slap any name on it you want and it is the same thing. Wal Mart now carries their brand of DEF and that cut the cost of a 2.5 gallon container from about $11 to $8. What I don't like about my truck is it doesn't tell you how much DEF you have in the tank. It will only say if it is less than half. I does start to warn you when you only have 500 miles worth of the stuff left in the tank though.

It will delay our return to Disney by a year, but in the end will be worth it. DW's 2003 was just not a reliable tow vehicle for another long haul. So far not too bad adjusting to the extra width, although coming home from the dealer most of the highway was under construction and had no shoulder, just jersey barriers. Welcome to driving a wider truck. We have a few local trips planned and maybe for an end of season thing we can get down to MD to see the wild horses. Loving the big truck so far. :drive:

Wider truck is for sure, but not impossible. Driving the peterbuilt tow trucks which are wide has made it normal for me. Assateague state park is always a good time, though its full dry camp. We are off to Burnt Cabins, PA this weekend. Looking forward to it, its a smaller campground and even when its full it doesn't feel full which is what we enjoy.
