Just went to pick up the kids from school. The only way to/from the school is to cross over the RR tracks. At the main crossing, every police car in town was there.

They are doing work on the train station. There is always a lot of contruction workers on the tracks. Please hope/pray that it wasn't someone killed. :( NJ Transit states delays due to trespasser incident.

Please, good thoughts.

Yep, trespasser incident means someone was killed. I just went through a "trespasser incident" on the Raritan Valley line on Friday evening.

Went to reach the article on NJ.com and the sister of the deceased kept insisting it was an accident and her brother didn't mean to step in front of the train. I feel for anyone that is distraught and needs to do this. And if it was an accident, how do you miss a train doing 60 mph? :confused3

And my heart always goes out to the engineer driving the train. Can you imagine going about your job and having someone step in front of the train with no ability to stop timely without harming the rest of the passengers. :sad2: And I'm not sure if the law has changed but one of the conductors once told me that the victim's family and sue the engineer personally. Now, I'm not sure if this is accurate as I got it second hand.
I've been commuting for 20 years on NJT and have seen just about everything.

Do you know where? My ds take the NJ transit train to Law School at Seton Hall.
If your son is commuting from Hamilton Square then he would be on the Northeast Corridor line and not the Coast Line. There may be some residual delays depending on where the incident occured but shouldn't be too bad.
Not to sound really cold but this is more of an inconvenience for commuters than a safety issue.

SOUTH AMBOY -- A man was killed today when he was struck by a train at John Street in South Amboy, NJ Transit officials said.

The man, believed to be about 54 years old, was struck about 1:30 p.m. on the northbound tracks, NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel said.

He said it was unclear how the man came to be on the tracks.

"Whether it was accidental or intentional is still under investigation," Stessel said.

The train left Long Branch at 12:55 p.m. And was scheduled to arrive in New York at 2:33 p.m.

One northbound track remained closed but train traffic resumed on another track, with trains delayed by about 15 minutes, Stessel said.

All passengers on the train involved in the accident were transferred to other trains.
